PizzeRizzo opened last month at Disney's Hollywood Studios at the former location of Toy Story Pizza Planet. While the food pretty much stayed the same (I was hoping for an upgrade), the atmosphere is much nicer with terrific theming throughout. PizzeRizzo is 2 stories with outdoor seating both on the ground and upper level. But it is the Banquet Room that has become one of my favorite places to eat in at Walt Disney World (just for atmosphere). I do really like that the Muppets are being utilized so much across property now.
Review: Chef Art Smith's Homecoming: Florida Kitchen Brings Delicious Southern Cooking to Disney Springs
Just before our trip to California last week, we visited Chef Art Smith's Homecoming: Florida Kitchen & Southern Shine (the name always is a mouthful!) with friends. I was looking forward to this new location, which boasts southern specialties like fried chicken and shrimp & grits. Chef Art Smith spent ten years as personal chef to Oprah Winfrey, and has done much more. He owns other restaurants, has authored cookbooks and has won the James Beard award twice. He also comes from a sixth-generation Florida family, and the "Homecoming" stems from his return to Walt Disney World after first becoming a Cast Member on the Magic Kingdom College Program in 1981.
I do expect to add to this article in the future when trying new-to-us items from the menu. We paid for our meals, and views are always ours either way.
We were invited to a media preview of Blaze Fast Fire'd Pizza at Disney Springs on Wednesday. The new restaurant opens today, August 5th! Blaze will be an extremely popular option for guests looking for a reasonably priced counter service location. Pizzas can be customized in a myriad of ways, with more than 40 toppings that can be added in any way guests want. Vegan and gluten free options are also available, and the restaurant takes being eco-friendly and serving all natural foods seriously. Here is a look around the restaurant, with a lot more information! The hours for Blaze are from 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. Sunday - Thursday and 10 a.m. - midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Blaze Pizza does take the Disney Dining Plan.
The AbracadaBar at the Walt Disney World BoardWalk opened to guests yesterday afternoon. We were at Disney's Hollywood Studios when I saw a notification online that it'd be opening shortly, so we headed over to check out the newest themed bar at Walt Disney World. Nestled between Trattoria al Forno and the Flying Fish (still closed for refurbishment), the bar is on the small side, but makes a nice addition to the resort. There are no discounts taken here and we were told none were expected. The AbracadaBar is a more sedate experience than say, Trader Sam's - it almost has the feel as if the Hollywood Tower of Terror opened a bar. (Check out our coverage of Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar at Disney Springs and Trader Sam's at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort). There is no food served at AbracadaBar, I hope that changes sometime. This location used to be Seashore Sweets.
Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar made significant changes to its food menu that debuted yesterday (the drink menu is the same). We'd heard for a couple of months from Cast Members that there would be a lunch menu added - but that wasn't the case, it ended up being of an overhaul of many menu items. Here is a look at what is new. While for me, there are less items to choose from that I'd like, your mileage may vary. The service was, as usual, outstanding. You can read our original review of Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar from last September on opening day.
Frozen Ever After Draws Large Crowds for Opening Day at Epcot (Photos, Video Including Queue & Attraction)
Today was the first day of the new attraction Frozen Ever After, set in the Norway pavilion in World Showcase. The ride replaces the former Maelstrom attraction, which closed in September, 2014. Notable is that the hours for Frozen Ever After begin at 9:00 a.m., as opposed to most of World Showcase (most pavilions open at 11:00 a.m.). Mexico is also following suit, opening early and both pavilions now offer a counter service breakfast menu.
More photos & a new video were added June 23rd.
Mako Hypercoaster at SeaWorld Orlando: Photos & POV Video as Attraction Readies for June 10th Opening
SeaWorld invited us out today to check out Mako, now the tallest, fastest, and longest coaster in Orlando! The hypercoaster officially opens tomorrow (June 10th, 2016) to guests. Mako is 200 feet tall and hits speeds of 73mph, but its the air time that was the biggest hit with everyone riding today (including media and members of American Coaster Enthusiasts). No matter how tight the restraint is, there are hills that will lift riders out of their seats. The coaster is named after the mako shark, which also helped bring about SeaWorld's partnership with conservationist Guy Harvey.
