It's only been a couple of short years since the dining landscape at Downtown Disney (now Disney Springs) consisted of a few restaurants I would want to occasionally visit. How times have changed, as more quality venues are added - I could dine at Disney Springs every day now.
The newest restaurant at Disney Springs is The Polite Pig, located in Town Center. We were invited to a media tasting last Friday, and we then went on our own on Saturday to try a few other items and see how the ordering process worked. The Polite Pig is a modern barbecue restaurant and a sister restaurant to The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park (I haven't yet been, but it's very well reviewed). The Polite Pig serves barbecue dishes, filling a niche that was underserved on Walt Disney World property. The food items often have a twist to them, usually with suprisingly great results (like the brussel sprouts). The Polite Pig is co-owned by James and Julie Petrakis, as well as his brother Brian Petrakis. They were approached by Disney to have a local restaurant, or as James put it, the "first local chef presence".
Here is a look at the menu with current prices. The sides can be less expensive when ordering three of them or with a sandwich.
Star-Lord and Baby Groot Now Meeting in Disney's Hollywood Studios at "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2." Meet & Greet (Photos and Video)
Star-Lord and Baby Groot started meeting guests today at Disney's Hollywood Studios inside One Man's Dream, where Moana met guests until recently. My favorite character from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is Baby Groot, and the character is just as adorable here as in the film. Here is a look at photos and video from today!
Disneyland Paris turned 25 years old this month, and we were fortunate enough to be there for both the March 26th kickoff and the spectacular April 12th official anniversary. I'm not sure how long the 25th anniversary will continue for, but some of the elements will likely last well past the year and a half or so that I expect. This is a great time to visit the Disneyland Paris resort, we were able to snag a three week trip that won't be much different in price than one week in Anaheim this summer (staying offsite in both locations). The dollar in France is very strong right now compared with 2014 and some previous trips I've taken.
Here are 10 reasons to make plans now to go to Disneyland Paris for the 25th!
Disneyland Paris Pulls Out the Stops for 25th Anniversary on April 12th, 2017 - Overview with Photos & Video, Including Rare Characters
We returned a few days ago from a nearly three week trip in Paris, beginning with the kickoff of the Disneyland Paris 25th anniversary on March 26th and ending with the official anniversary on April 12th, 2017. The big day was certainly the most grand event I have ever experienced in a Disney park over 40 years, with upwards of 150 characters (many very rare), a huge Disneyland Paris Cast Member flash mob and hundreds of performers - along with costumes created just for the day.
This was the second time I've been in Disneyland Paris during a big anniversary milestone. The first was for the 10th anniversary in 2002. It was really just a quick one-day event, which extended out to a week. Five years later, I was in Disneyland Paris a few weeks after the 15th kicked off, and I believe that celebration lasted a couple of years. I'm not sure how long the 25th will go on for, with the new Disney Stars on Parade, Disney Illuminations and other shows and decorations that were created for the anniversary.
I'll have an article soon about what daily guests can expect, but here is a look at April 12th, 2017 with almost 150 photos and several videos. It was an exciting day, one of the most exciting I have certainly experienced in any Disney park and it was wonderful to share it with friends. The song "Everyday's a Celebration" was played all day long, as the official song of the 25th day.
Disney-Pixar's "Cars 3" Nationwide Tour Kicks off at Walt Disney World's Disney Springs, Including First Public Appearance of Jackson Storm (Photos, Video)
Disney-Pixar's Cars 3 is on the road! The film opens on June 16th, 2017, but 27 cities across the country will be part of the Disney-Pixar Cars Road to the Races tour, which just kicked off today at Walt Disney World's Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney). The Disney Springs leg of the tour ends on March 26th, but check out the official website to see if the event will be coming to a city near you! Here are photos and video from a media preview today, including new car Jackson Storm, who made his public debut at the event. Cruz Ramirez was first seen during the Daytona 500 week. I expect this tour to be VERY popular! Disney-Pixar Road to the Races ends during the weekend of June 24th and 25th at the Sonoma Raceway in California.
Miss Adventure Falls opened at Typhoon Lagoon today, a new family water raft ride that essentially takes the place of the former Shark Reef even though Shark Reef was in a different location (it closed in October, 2016). The attraction offers the first audio-animatronic in a Disney water park, and a conveyer system so that guests don't have to carry the rafts up a hill. Here is a look at photos and video of the new ride!
I'm starting with the video, and then keep reading for information about the ride and photos.
