12/27 Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort Christmas & Golf Cart Parade Photos and Video!

Hi everyone!

Now that Christmas is over, it’s time to share our Christmas Eve at Fort Wilderness. We actually were there the 23rd as well to see the Christmas decorations with friends, and continued our yearly tradition of taking a wagon ride around the campground – this time with about 20 other friends!

One of my favorite things about Christmas at Fort Wilderness is that the guests have so much holiday spirit! There are decorations around the campground for each holiday, but the few months encompassing Halloween and Christmas are especially impressive. We usually walk around the loops to check out the decorations, but I also recommend the wagon ride. Going to Fort Wilderness at this time is like visiting family to me. Many of the same guests are there year after year, and often love to talk about their displays.

2 years ago, Fort Wilderness put it’s resort specific merchandise on clearance. I bought a jacket and luggage tags, but was disappointed there would be no more to purchase. Fortunately for those of us who love the Fort, new shirts and other merchandise have been added!

A nativity display, Disney characters and Hitchhiking Ghosts make up the decor of this campsite. We have a video showing the decorations at the different campsites here!

We were running a few minutes late for the Fort Wilderness golf cart parade, but it was running late too!

We always enjoy seeing the golf cart parades at Fort Wilderness! The Christmas parade is much smaller than the Halloween version (and the Fourth of July), but still festive and fun to watch. Donald Duck was in the first cart. Check out our video here!

We went to the Meadows, where the carts were being judged. 3 judges were there, with Coke cups like American Idol. We were able to see the entire procession again.

There were some golf carts I didn’t photograph as well as I’d have liked the first time, such as Santa’s cart. I was also able to capture photos of a couple of the dogs, very smartly dressed in their holiday outfits!

The giant Santa ended up caught in some branches for a couple of minutes:

Holiday Sleigh rides are very popular at the campground. For $60, guests spend 25 minutes in a carriage (generally up to 4 guests, though I saw one carriage carrying 5). We have not done the sleigh rides, but have done the Halloween carriage rides (and wagon rides before that). Our video shows sleigh rides passing by!

Only a few more days until 2012 – I hope you’ve been enjoying our continuing holiday coverage around Walt Disney World!
