Review of Disneyland's MaxPass - Disney's Paid Fastpass Service

Hi everyone!

Disney MaxPass - Disneyland's version of mobile Fastpass with a PhotoPass inclusion - debuted on July 19th, 2017. We were in town at that time and decided to test it on July 21st for the $10.00 per person introductory cost (Signature Passholders receive it included with their pass, other Disneyland Passholders are able to add it for $75.00 per year). Honestly, I had been skeptical when it was first announced. This was the first time I have ever paid for Fastpass or a skip-the-line offering at any park. I also think the name would have been better as "Fastpass Premium" or something like that. But that said, I think it is a much better version of Fastpass than what we have in Florida - easy to use, convenient, and it includes PhotoPass for the day (the PhotoPass part was confusing at first). Here is our review and information about Disney MaxPass.

Disney Debuted A Magically 'Geek' Couture Gown Inspired by Cinderella at San Diego Comic-Con

Hi everyone!

Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein debuted a new Cinderella gown on the Her Universe Fashion Show runway at San Diego Comic-Con. The dress was designed in just three days by Fashion Designer Andrew Maclaine - he won the first Her Universe Fashion Show at SDCC in 2014. Ashley wanted a Cinderella gown because "She never gave up on her dreams, no matter what". The reveal of the couture gown is at about 4:34 in.

Taking creative inspiration from elements of the iconic 1950 animated film, such as the magical fairy-dust transformation and the elegant spiral staircase from Prince Charming's palace, designer Andrew MacLain creates a truly 'Wish Upon A Star' modern gown for Ashley.

10 Disney Books I Look Forward to in 2017, From Don Hahn's "Yesterday's Tomorrow: Disney's Magical Mid-Century" to "Ink & Paint: The Women of Walt Disney's Animation" & More

The latter half of 2017 offers a slew of promising Disney book titles. From the Don Hahn book Yesterday's Tomorrow: Disney's Magical Mid-Century to Ink & Paint: The Women of Walt Disney's Animation, there is something for every Disney fan. These are the ten books I most look forward to personally this year, spanning a lot of Disney history. While not in exact order of my interest, the list is pretty close. And I posted a snippet about each book from Amazon, but most or all have more info at the website. Everything here is available for pre-order.
Here are the ten titles! The dates of release can change (like Color of Pixar moved from August 1st through 8th).
Yesterday's Tomorrow: Disney's Magical Mid-Century - this looks fantastic and is by producer/writer Don Hahn, who we've interviewed numerous times over the years. I am a fan of his documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty as well as books like Before Ever After: The Lost Lectures of Walt Disney’s Animation Studio. Our last interview with him was about producing the new Beauty and the Beast movie, he was so instrumental in the animated one. (Our interview is here).
From Amazon: Yesterday's Tomorrow is a valentine to an era of optimism, relaxed lifestyle, and innovative design; a large-format, general audience book, illustrated with rarely seen art and photography of the mid-20th century reflecting the unique style that Walt Disney and his artists contributed to the era.
Releases November 14th, 2017.

New Free Dining Offer For Fall, 2017 - Available Many Nights 8/21/17 - 12/23/17, Book by July 7th, 2017

Hi everyone!

The Free Dining Offer at Walt Disney World is back, with many nights included this fall. Book a non-discounted Walt Disney World Magic Your Way Package and you get a dining plan included with this package, while supplies last. It is a little different this year than previous years, with the Moderate resorts receiving the Quick Service Dining Plan. Read below for more information! We recommend MEI Mouse Fan Travel for booking, it costs nothing to do so and they can recommend restaurants and assist with dining reservations once booked with them. October isn't included, that is a really busy time for resorts and the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is at its peak.

Book early for the best chance at booking the resort and package you want! I used to be a travel agent and remember it didn't take long until certain resorts sold out of the packages.

Disney's Grand Floridian Easter Egg Display 2017 Includes "Zootopia", "Big Hero 6", "Born in China" Themes

Hi everyone!

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort is offering up its chocolate Easter egg display for the 6th year in a row. We've posted about these since the beginning, and the display grows every year (in part due to some of past eggs displayed along with new ones). I didn't photograph all of them yesterday, I mostly stuck with new eggs - the Zootopia egg is especially detailed with so many characters! There has been a discrepancy over whether the eggs would be displayed through April 19th or 29th, Disney has stated the 29th online and that makes more sense since they didn't go up until about the 11th. But we'll see. If you get a chance to see this display, it is worth the visit. Each egg stands 16-20 inches and weighs 9-12 pounds! The pastry team is so talented.
