Super Blue Blood Moon 2018 - Photos from Lunar Eclipse at Disney's Polynesian Resort & Epcot Moon Pictures

Hi everyone!

A few days back on January 30th, I noticed a bigger than usual moon at Epcot while in World Showcase. I hadn't heard until then that there would be a supermoon, lunar eclipse or anything else special - but I looked online while at Epcot and found there would be a phenomenon called a Super Blue Blood Moon - with a super moon, total lunar eclipse and a blue moon (second full moon of the month) and that it would happen early in the morning on the 31st. So I took photos at Epcot because the moon looked cool there, and then we joined friends staying at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort for the early morning. Apparently it has been 150 or so years since a similar event has happened. I am no expert on any of this, so hopefully I wrote it correctly.

We also have some video of the experience in our Mousesteps Weekly show #255, thanks to Axel (CuriousAxel on YouTube) after Jeff forgot his video camera. You can find that at the end of this article.

Tips For Visiting the Epcot International Festival of the Arts 2018, Including Disney on Broadway Concert Series and Food Studios

Hi everyone!

The Epcot International Festival of the Arts kicked off on January 12th, 2018. This is just the second year of the Festival, which became popular very quickly and has expanded both in offerings and dates for this year. The 2017 debut saw only 4 days a week for the Epcot Festival of the Arts, which now is an every day event through February 19th, 2018. This is now probably my second favorite Walt Disney World event behind the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, which we'll be sharing with you for our 12th year in just over a month. Mousesteps Weekly show #254 will be mostly about the Epcot International Festival of the Arts and I will embed that when we record it.

I especially like that Epcot's resident dragon Figment is again a big part of the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.

Our Top 10 Videos Posted in 2017, Including Disneyland Halloween and Disneyland Paris 25th Grand Celebration

Hi everyone!

I don't generally post any year-end retrospectives, but this year we are sharing our top 10 videos posted in 2017. I have links to corresponding articles for all of them. It is interesting to see what is popular on video vs. our articles vs. our social media. For example, our top 9 photos on Instagram are primarily of Disneyland Paris. Our top 10 videos are heavily favored to Disneyland in California. My top articles are mostly Walt Disney World based.

Our #10 video from 2017 is my favorite day in any theme park, ever. The 25th Anniversary Grand Celebration of Disneyland Paris was an incredible day with over 100 rare characters and the spectacular morning event. This is the video from the morning event, and our article is here.

Interview with Marcy Carriker Smothers About Her Book "Eat Like Walt"

Hi everyone!

One of my favorite Disney books of 2017 - and probably the biggest suprise in how much I enjoyed it - is Eat Like Walt by Marcy Carriker Smothers. Check out our review here. We had the opportunity to interview Smothers about the book, one I really recommend for anyone interested in Walt Disney history. Not only is it about Walt, Disneyland and food, but it is just a fantastic historical read. She has a very bubbly personality like you'd expect from reading the book, and has been making the rounds of book signings - including at Walt's Barn in Los Angeles. This is a book that I received as a review copy, but also I purchased one as a gift for a friend recovering from an accident to help him pass the time.
