Review: Chip & Dale's Christmas Tree Spree Scavenger Hunt at Epcot During Festival of the Holidays, With Few Spoilers
During Epcot Festival of the Holidays this year (formerly Holidays Around the World), there is a new scavenger hunt called Chip & Dale's Christmas Tree Spree. We have taken part in most of the different scavenger hunts since Walt Disney World added them to events a few years back, they are inexpensive (this was $6.99 plus tax, no discounts). We do pay for the experience, and the prize this time around was really cute - there are three different ones that are very similar and I will show those at the end.
I said in the title that there are few spoilers here. I do show the front of a couple of pavilion shops we went to and what a few of the wreaths look like. I do not show their placement/location in the pavilion though the photo in Mexico will make it easier to find. It will help to know what the wreaths look like, because that is what you are looking for - wreaths with ornaments. They are not lit up, so it took a while for me to acclimate to finding them. After a few pavilions, it got much easier. All are inside. And look for signs for the map purchasing and redemption locations, there are several including the International Gateway.
If enough readers want a spoiler filled version, I can do that too.
We were at the first and third Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party nights for 2017. Each year brings a few changes, I have been posting about the Party for 11 years now and attending for over 20 years. Compared to last year, there aren't too many differences for 2017 - but there are a few. And small changes lead to big changes through the years. Here are our tips for 2017, along with our Mousesteps Weekly YouTube Show #247 talking all about the two Party nights we attended with more tips and an overview. There are some photos and other videos scattered through this article as well.
Disney's Grand Floridian Gingerbread House to Open November 15th, 2017 as it Celebrates 19 Years - Photos
Disney's Grand Floridian Gingerbread House opens for its 19th year on November 15th, 2017! In the ten years we have been posting about the iconic holiday display, I think this is the earliest it has opened. Just a few years ago in 2014, it opened on November 21st, so it was nearly a week later than this year. Disney's Grand Floridian Gingerbread House hasn't changed much through the years as other displays around property have, with new window designs each year and other small changes but not a lot else. Here are a handful of photos from yesterday along with information about the house this year. The pastry team always does a wonderful job!
Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort Celebrates Completed Renovation Including New Lobby & Dining Location
We were invited to an event last week to check out the new Walt Disney World Dolphin lobby that includes the Phins lobby bar and Fuel dining location. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has completed a $140 million three-year transformation that also included guest rooms and meeting space, and the resort now has a much more modern feel to it. The billowy circus tent look to the Dolphin ceiling is gone, in are a fountain and elegant chandelier.
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has been a longtime favorite of mine. Situated in an excellent location that is a 10-15 minute walk from either Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios - or a Friendship Boat ride, though I rarely take it - the resort hotels are not owned by Walt Disney World but they are nestled among Walt Disney World deluxe resorts around the Walt Disney World Boardwalk. I spent six years as a Disney specialized travel agent many years ago, and often would book guests into these two fantastic properties (they are Starwood hotels, owned by Sheraton and Westin). Even with the resort and parking fees, there are a variety of discounts that can make this location a very attractive option. Being a very popular convention site, certain times of year can get booked up as well - October is always a prime convention month. In addition, the end of October always offers my favorite food and wine event, the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Food and Wine Classic. The resort has some highly rated dining options including Shula's Steakhouse and Todd English's Bluezoo, and the Classic offers tastes from all the restaurants plus wine and beer. It is always a great time!
