The Muppets Present…Great Moments in American History is a Liberty Square Delight at Magic Kingdom (Photos, Videos)

Hi everyone!

Earlier this month, “The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History” debuted at the Magic Kingdom. Currently there are two shows – one about the Declaration of Independence, one about Paul Revere. Both are a lot of fun and well worth visiting in Liberty Square. We were in Paris when it began, and it took a couple of weeks to catch up around the parks once we returned. This is a great show for families, and I’m happy to be seeing more Muppets presence around the parks.

The day we visited, the holiday Mickey was already being grown in at the Magic Kingdom. Halloween and the Christmas season are right on top of each other this year – the first Cinderella Castle holiday lighting is November 2nd!

A rope is placed for guests to stand at, but the Muppets can really be seen from well further back as well – you can see them in the windows of the Heritage House here.

Sam Eagle is one of the hosts for the Declaration of Independence version, as the “Historian of Town Square” for both shows.

James “J.J.” Jefferson also hosts the Declaration of Independence show. Both shows feature the song, “Great Moments in History”, with the line “And here is what you will take away with all your minds and hearts…Great Moments in History but only the American parts”. It’s a very memorable song.

Here is our video of the Great Moments in History with the Muppets – Declaration of Independence show!

In this show, Kermit wants to make Sam’s story more entertaining and Sam tells him to “Please do it with dignity”.

Fozzy Bear is one of the characters in the show.

And Gonzo, here holding an American flag.

Miss Piggy wants to be part of the show and Kermit says that it is about the Founding Fathers and there is no part for her.

Kermit shows up as Thomas Jefferson.

Fozzie Bear plays Ben Franklin. Gonzo plays John Adams.

Miss Piggy arrives as King George (eventually changing it to Queen Georgette), until she finds out the colonists are angry and she ends up losing.

She then decides to be Georgette Washington.

Banners are brought out of the windows.

Fozzie Bear as Ben Franklin holds two flags.

During the Paul Revere show, JJ the Town Crier did not appear. I chose the show times to be close to each other, there was only a 15 minute or so time period in between them (usually it is more).

Here is our video of the Paul Revere show.

Sam is now in the windows with the other characters, instead of above the Hall of Presidents.

Miss Piggy wants a role in this one as well, but Kermit says no.

Paul Revere or…

Paulette Revere?

Gonzo brings a horse for Paul Revere (Kermit).

Miss Piggy comes back quickly in a new costume to sing “By the Light of the Silvery Moon”.

Fozzie Bear provides the moon.

Miss Piggy shows up as a Redcoat with the chickens (in one of her many costume changes).

The banners come down again.

And in the Christmas shop, guests can purchase Muppet merchandise.

The Muppets Present…Great Moments in History is well worth a stop in Liberty Square. I wasn’t sure how the Muppets would fit into the area, but I think Disney did a wonderful job with integrating the characters and the story into the land.
