See Disney’s New Sumatran Tiger Cubs at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park (Photos, Video)

Hi everyone!

I went to Disney’s Animal Kingdom yesterday to see the newest additions to the park, Sumatran cubs Jeda and Anala. These are the first tigers ever born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and they can be found on the Maharajah Jungle Trek. This area of the park has been one of my favorites since it first opened nearly 20 years ago, I made weekly visits in the first year to enjoy the tigers and other animals. Less than 500 of the Sumatran tigers are currently in the wild, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom is part of breeding them for survival of the species. The cubs – one male and one female – are adorable and already VERY popular, especially with the parks being crowded this week. Currently they are out in the mornings until maybe 1pm or 2pm, I am not sure when that will change.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is all abuzz with the news of the tigers, even the security guard made sure I knew to go see them.

The Maharajah Jungle Trek doesn’t have as many tigers (or bats) as it once did, so the two gorgeous additions are definitely welcome – I look forward to visiting them occasionally..

I don’t remember it ever being this busy for tigers before, it was like waitiing to photograph the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. I probably stood in a line about 5 deep when I arrived, and then got back in line elsewhere else. There are a number of possible angles to view them from.

My first view.

It didn’t take long for the cubs to be more active, along with their mom Sohni. It also didn’t take long for them to relax behind some trees after that, but I was there just in time to capture some fun moments. Here is our video!

And check out some other photos I took of the cubs and Sohni.

If you make it over to Walt Disney World, definitely take time to see Jeda and Anala!
