Disney Park and Resort Photo Updates

Disney’s Coronado Springs Tower and Villa del Lago Restaurant Construction – August 27, 2018

Hi everyone!

The tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is scheduled to open next year. We head over every couple of months or so to share a current look at it. Not only is the tower moving along, but a bar and grill called Villa del Lago is being built on Lago Dorado (the lake at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort) and that is moving along as well. The new tower is 15 stories tall and will have 500 rooms along with suites, a concierge level and rooftop dining with views of the fireworks. It is changing the footprint of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and the overall feel as well – but the resort needed more upscale accomodations to keep up with its large convention center. More meeting space will also be in the tower. Here is a look at photos from yesterday.

Driving toward Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, the tower can be seen over the trees.

This is how it looks driving into the resort.

The parking lot is sectioned off and we parked behind the green fence.

The parking lot includes concept art for what is coming.

This concept art talks about culinary experiences.

A sign points the way to El Centro, the main lobby area.

Another piece of concept art.

The tower peeks out over the fence.

A view of what the large tower will eventually look like is shown in this concept art.

Here is a look at the view while walking toward the lobby.

I took a look inside of Panchito’s Gifts and Sundries, and Burrito the donkey was not at the front of the store. There is also some work going on, I am not sure if the shop is being fully refurbished right now. It felt a little sparse inside.

The Three Cabelleros on the wall.

There is a construction wall in the back.

Back outside, the upcoming restaurant/bar Villa del Lago is being built.  On the Disney Meetings site geared toward convention groups, it says, “this bar and grill seats 60 people, and designated group areas seat an additional 90 people.”

Here are more photos of the construction.

A bridge is being built here.

This is another angle of the building in concept art.

Walking around Disney’s Coronado Springs, we are closer to the tower now.

Here are some photos from different angles of it.

We are on the other side of Villa del Lago now and the following photos show a few angles.

Here is another of the tower across the lake.

This is a look at the walkway as it is being added.

A rainbow formed so I took more photos with it included.

The rainbow stuck around for a while and became a double rainbow.

Here are some more photos looking closer at the tower.

Some birds were flying toward the rainbow.

And we even saw a little extra wildlife in the form of a small alligator. As often as I am on Walt Disney World property, I don’t see many. A Cast Member said it was going to be moved away from guest areas, which I guess happens now with even small alligators. If you ever see one on Walt Disney World property, let a Cast Member know and don’t feed it (it’s illegal and acclimates alligators to humans).

A sign tells guests that a path is closed ahead.

Some tables overlook the lake and now the tower.

We will be back in the next couple of months to update our photos!
