Review: Star Wars Feel the Force Premium Package 2015 & Our Day at Star Wars Weekends Day 1 (Photos, Video)
On Friday we went to Star Wars Weekends as it kicked off for 2015, and booked the Feel the Force Premium Package (the new Premium Deluxe Package sold out very quickly on the first day and we missed booking it). Last year, we wrote an article recommending the Feel the Force Premium Package. This year I hesitate a little bit in recommending it, and I'm not sure if we will book it next year - but we might. Here is a look at our day at Star Wars Weekends, including a review of each component of the Feel the Force Premium Package. We paid $69 plus tax each for it, and received Legends of the Force Motorcade viewing with snacks & drinks; special seating for one show; and a dessert party with drinks (alcohol and non-alcohol) and fireworks viewing.
The Disney Store has been rolling out "Inside Out" merchandise over the last couple of weeks. It's great in that there is merchandise for adults and kids, from t-shirts to socks to books and from mugs to mood rings. Here is some of the merchandise available - there is more, you can head to the Disney Store online and check out the more than 40 items already in stock. I can't wait to see the film, and I'm sure I'll be purchasing some of the items myself (once I discover my favorite movie emotions). Tsum Tsums for "Inside Out" arrive on June 2nd, Tsum Tsum Tuesday! Each purchase you make from Mousesteps helps support the website - thank you!
Jeff and I have both been visiting the Downtown Disney Marketplace since the 1970's. In 1999, a carousel was added, but it wasn't on my radar until the last few years, when I noticed the vintage artwork scenes. And by vintage, I mean that many of the scenes depicted no longer exist. As the last few years have passed, more scenes are now gone from the landscape. We wanted to capture this carousel in photos and video before the artwork changes to Disney Springs. Created in Italy, the carousel is worth a second - and third - look.
We had the opportunity last week to test out an Amphicar at The BOATHOUSE Restaurant, a unique 20 minute experience that costs $125.00 for up to 3 guests with the boat captain. Full disclosure early, we were invited by The BOATHOUSE so that we could share this experience with our readers and viewers. We probably look a little surprised too, since we thought we were there to watch the flag ceremony (which we still haven't seen!) Within two minutes of arrival, we were getting into an Amphicar for an excursion around Downtown Disney's Village Lake.
Downtown Disney has a new Marvel store on the West Side called Super Hero Headquarters! It opened a few days back, coinciding with the debut of Avengers: Age of Ultron. D-Street used to handle a small amount of Marvel merchandise, but it has all moved here - plus much more. It is a relatively small store, it doesn't take too many guests to make it feel busy inside. It replaced the United World Soccer shop, but you can still find soccer merchandise (at least for now) at a truck near Cirque du Soleil.
Review: BOATHOUSE at Downtown Disney Opens With Expansive Views, Upscale Food at Future Disney Springs
In March, we shared an interview with The BOATHOUSE founder Steven Schussler, who has opened several restaurant concepts at Walt Disney World: Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex Cafe and Yak & Yeti. This week, his latest restaurant concept opened at Downtown Disney (soon to be Disney Springs). Unlike the other restaurants I mentioned, The BOATHOUSE is not a Landry's restaurant - it is managed by Gibsons Restaurant Group out of Chicago, which is highly regarded for its steak and seafood. There is a chain of Landry's restaurants in Canada called The Boathouse, but this is not related in any way. The BOATHOUSE at Downtown Disney is one-of-a-kind. Menus are printed daily depending on what has been caught, and there are a lot of options - more menu choices than just about anywhere at Walt Disney World.
