Disney's Hollywood Studios Photo Update - Club Disney Closing; Construction; Merchandise; Characters Outside Park
Disney's Hollywood Studios has begun the process of closures and other work to prepare for Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land (both years down the road). Club Disney is ending its very short run at the new Sunset Showcase - it is said to be operating seasonally after that, although spring break is right around the corner. And characters have been meeting outside the park, though they are not on the schedule and aren't guaranteed. Here is a look at our visit from a couple of days ago.
Zootopia is coming to the theaters on March 4th, and there is a preview at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Tsum Tsum Tuesday today features the upcoming movie Zootopia! I can't wait for the film, which opens on March 4th, 2016. Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, Flash the sloth and many more are included here. Any purchase you make at the Disney Store through Mousesteps does help support us, thank you!
Just a few days back, we posted an article with photos of current Disney Springs construction from the ground. I recently had purchased a Groupon for Characters in Flight, and yesterday ended up being a perfect day to use it. The day was a little bright, but it was one of the nicest days we've had here recently. The view is remarkable, seeing the overall progress from the air. There is still a lot to be done, I'm not sure when the real completion date will be - meaning not just completing the exteriors, but when all the buildings will be occupied. This is about the fourth time we've photographed from Characters in Flight over the past year and a half.
Last week, I posted an article with tips and information about sailing during Star Wars Day at Sea on the Disney Fantasy. There are a total of 8 dates through April, or 8 actual days at sea that include Star Wars characters and activities. My thoughts on the cruise are in the first article, this is a photo and video heavy article about the Star Wars portion of the cruise with photos mostly that I haven't yet posted. All other days were as usual, no Star Wars except for merchandise and films being shown in the Buena Vista Theater. We did not do everything available, like the Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple and Padawan Mind Challenge. But we did quite a bit. Suprisingly missing was any sort of celebrities and insiders touted ahead of time.
Disney Springs Photo Update - January 22nd, 2016 - Including World of Coca-Cola, Town Center & Planet Hollywood Construction
Disney Springs looks different during each visit, even since my last stop less than 2 weeks ago. This is the first time we've seen water added around the Town Center area, and the World of Coca-Cola is also progressing quickly. There is still much to open this year, including Sprinkles Cupcakes and Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza.
Here is a look around Disney Springs yesterday!
Star Wars Day at Sea on the Disney Fantasy: Tips & What to Expect on Your Voyage Through the Galaxy (w/Photos, Video)
We just returned from 7 nights on the Disney Fantasy, where we experienced Star Wars Day at Sea. There are a total of 8 Star Wars day at Sea sailings through April, including the one we were on. I am a casual Star Wars fan - I enjoy the films (most of them), and have attended most Star Wars Weekends - but I'm not a superfan.
I tried to keep my expectations somewhat low for the cruise, since this was the first of its kind at sea. And in most ways, Disney exceeded what I was hoping for. It wasn't a perfect day, but I thought Disney overall did a pretty solid job. We did pay fully for our cruise, booking as soon as we learned about it. It ended up being a pretty reasonably priced cruise, even without a Florida Resident discount - the same stateroom category would have cost nearly $2,000 more as the cruise neared.
What can you expect from Star Wars Day at Sea? Here are some thoughts and tips from the first sailing (including our Mousesteps Weekly YouTube Show #172 at the end of the article). There are a lot of spoilers here. We didn't experience everything, skipping trivia and not making it to Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple in particular. I expect each sailing to be very similar, but things can change. And I should have another article including many more photos on Thursday or Friday.
New MagicBands have been added recently to the Disney Store online, including a Star Wars BB-8 MagicBand that is sure to be very popular. You can find all the current MagicBands available online at the Disney Store here, and some of the newer styles below. Any purchase made through Mousesteps does help support us, thank you!
