One of my favorite things to do at Epcot is to browse the World Showcase shops, which feature unique goods from around the world. Sometimes the stores include Disney themed merchandise that you can't find anywhere else. In the case of The Tea Caddy in Epcot's United Kingdom pavilion, Kit Heath began offering Disney jewelry with a Celtic twist just over a year ago. Now the Celtic Mickey Collection by Kit Heath has expanded with a new offering, the Claddagh Mickey necklace.
Sorcerer's Hat Removal Makes Way for Chinese Theater View at Disney's Hollywood Studios (Photos, Video)
Our last Sorcerer's Hat update was nearly 2 weeks ago, just before we left for a week on a Carnival cruise. The hat is coming down piece by piece, and now the Chinese Theater is starting to be visible down Hollywood Blvd. I can't believe it has been 14 or so years since I've seen that view!
Update - we have two new photos from Dave at WDW Guided Tours from January 28th as well. Those are at the end!
We had a little bit of time before Jeff's haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop today, so we took photos around the hub. It was nice having a blue sky, we've had nearly a week of mostly gray weather! The Harmony Barber Shop was supposed to be closing for renovations after February 1st, but it has been changed now to February 16th for closure.
I stopped at the Epcot France pavilion to try the new Strawberry Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich (it is seasonal and delicious, check it out!) and found a plethora of new merchandise in L'Esprit de la Provence, much of it Pixar Ratatouille themed. At least some of the items - along with the logo - originated in Disneyland Paris, we have an apron and magnet already from our Disneyland Paris visit. Most of the merchandise is branded here to Epcot World Showcase. Up until now, there were just a few Remy items for sale. There is also new merchandise featuring macarons with Epcot World Showcase branding.
The Sorcerer's Hat is in the process of removal at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I know that there is some sadness from guests, especially those who have known only the hat. But for myself, I am glad to finally see the gorgeous Chinese Theater again from Hollywood Blvd. - it has been a long time. We also have some other photos from Disney's Hollywood Studios, including new Star Wars drinking glasses with Disney characters!
For the first time in years, resort specific merchandise (not including pins & pressed pennies) has been added to the Walt Disney World Moderate resorts. Currently, Disney's Port Orleans Riverside has the most, but I expect each resort will be more equal eventually. Deluxe and DVC resorts, along with Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground have carried merchandise for years - some more than others, but I don't remember the last time that the Moderates did. Disney's Art of Animation has been the only Walt Disney World Value resort to carry resort merchandise recently, I'm not sure if that will change as well.
