11 Things to See and Do at Disneyland Resort Halloweentime 2017 (Including New Cars Land Haul-O-Ween!)
HalloweenTime at the Disneyland Resort is in full swing, including the newest offering at Disney California Adventure - Cars Land Haul-O-Ween! The latter was the reason I wanted to visit this year for Halloween, and of course the usual favorites of Haunted Mansion Holiday, Ghost Galaxy and more. Here are 11 reasons to visit the Disneyland Resort for HalloweenTime! We will also have at least one Mousesteps Weekly show talking all about Halloween! (We did not participate in any media event and paid our own way - all views are ours all the time!)
I have photos and video added to the article, more will be added after Mickey's Halloween Party and as I have time. And there are a lot of photo opportunities all over - with Photopass photographers almost anywhere that Halloween photos may be wanted.

We attended the first three Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights of 2017. I posted the article Our 23 Tips to Enjoy Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2017 at Magic Kingdom last week, and it took a few extra days to post this article as we had been preparing for Hurricane Irma (which just passed).
I took thousands of photos over the several nights, this isn't an exhaustive look at the Party but I chose over 100 to share here, plus videos. One of the nights was clear with no rain, one was partly rainy and the last was a pretty heavy rain night - though even on the rain night, all of the major Party elements were available (Mickey's Boo-to-You Parade, one Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular and HallowWishes). On the rain night, trick-or-treating and character meet and greets were also available.
This is my 10th or 11th year of posting photos from Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, it is fun to see the changes each year.

We have now attended the first three Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights for 2017! The event started so early this year, we had all three done by the end of September 1st. The Party nights were all different - one was a clear night, one was a partial rain night and the other was a pretty heavy rain evening. And I learned a lot from the rain evening, it's something we've rarely experienced through the years at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
Book Review: "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: The Search for the Lost Disney Cartoons" is a Must-Have for Oswald Fans
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: The Search for the Lost Disney Cartoons by Dave Bossert releases on August 29th, 2017 and is timed for Oswald's 90th anniversary. I've been looking forward to this book for many months, and was delighted to be able to receive a copy a little early for a review. Before talking about what is within the pages, I just want to say that the book delivers in EVERY way. As a casual Oswald fan with some knowledge of the character's history, I was blown away by how much detail is in the book. At 176 pages, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: The Search for the Lost Disney Cartoons doesn't feel hefty like some books - it is nicely sized, but the writing is exhaustive and so well researched and detailed. Few words feel extraneous. If you've read my book reviews in the past, I tend to have some sort of criticism on many, but I really have none here.
Halloween Decorations Arrive at Magic Kingdom; First Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Kicks Off August 25th, 2017
Halloween has arrived at the Magic Kingdom just in time for the first day of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this Friday (August 25th, 2017). I can't believe how early the Party nights start this year! We will be at the first two, and will be bringing you photos and video from both. I have been out of town for a few days, but Jeff went yesterday to take some pictures and video of the Magic Kingdom, including pumpkins and merchandise. Here is a first look! I will add a few more pumpkin shots into this article after Friday, along with Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party articles this weekend.
Fantasmic! at Disneyland is overall better than ever, we viewed it several times during our trip in July. For one of those viewings, we had booked the Fantasmic! Dining Package at the River Belle Terrace. The River Belle Terrace will be closing for a refurbishment with Cafe Orleans replacing it during that time period.
From the Disney Parks Blog: While River Belle Terrace is under refurbishment at Disneyland park, guests can make reservations beginning August 15 for the Cafe Orleans dining package. These packages are available September 5 – November 16.
No matter which table service venue you are dining in, this will give an idea of what to expect with the food and Fantasmic! Dining Package process and show. To be honest, my first choice for the dining package would have been Blue Bayou but it sold out for each night we were there almost immediately once packages went on sale. For about $20 more per person ($65 vs. $45 plus tax and gratuity), it offers a beautiful setting and really a better menu and I wouldn't go any other way next time if booking a package. But if you are on a tight Disneyland deadline and want a good spot with little work, the River Belle Terrace was fine for that. Here is a look at the full experience. The one package that is different is at the Hungry Bear, the food is a boxed meal. You can book packages at 60 days out here.
