Part I left off right outside the Port Orleans Riverside food court, and I’m taking some photos inside before continuing the walk.
The food court had recently changed when I took these, the food is now more customized. Customized salads, pastas, and sandwiches – along with other items like pizzas and chicken tenders.
A few more photos inside the resort before finishing the walk: The lobby:
The River Roost bar area:
Back outside, the bridge I’ll be going over:
The walk takes me this way at 9:30am – I am not counting the inside of POR as part of the walk, I took those in the afternoon during my lunch. So from the fountain at the Port Orleans French Quarter to the outside of the Riverside Mill took me 12 minutes. Looking back, the wheel is where the food court is:
I am heading to the left:
I arrive at Ole Man Island at 9:31 (it’s very close to the food court):
Muddy Rivers pool bar:
The view from the bar (the pool area was being cleaned, so I didn’t get more close-up shots):
A very short walk later, another bridge:
I went off to the left, where part of Alligator Bayou is:
I get to building 27 at 9:33am:
As I’d be heading back to the food court this way (“all roads lead to the food court”), I’m turning around to go back to the Port Orleans French Quarter.
The water is on the right side, on the opposite side of where I’d come in from:
I’m passing building 38 on my left at 9:35am:
Passing the Acadian House:
Passing Magnolia Terrace:
Looking down the river:
And to my left:
I’m still going straight, this is a pathway to the left:
I get to Oak Manor at 9:38:
I arrive at Parterre Place at 9:40:
The walkway stops here, and I’m going to the right and over the bridge:
I’m surprised that surrey bikes come up here as it seems too narrow, but I’ll be going down and to the right, and back under the bridge towards the French Quarter:
Now heading back, with the water on my left side, at 9:44am:
I took this looking back:
I like the buildings and decor the French Quarter, they do remind me so much of Paris!
And my way out (and back home!)

Your mom is great! Written by John Martin, on 05-07-2008 14:13 Hi Denise. Your mom suggested I check out your website...awesome! Great idea for pre trip orientation. She helped me plan a trip for my wife and mother in law and was a HUGE help. Thanks for your efforts. John Louisiana

To Bakersfieldborn Written by Denise, on 01-27-2008 21:07 Hi! If I was going to choose one of the two resorts for romance, I'd go with the Port Orleans French Quarter. I'm a big fan of French theming (and France itself), and it's a much smaller resort. I don't care myself for water views at the moderate, because there isn't a balcony to enjoy it from (though if you are on the 1st floor, it may be nice to take chairs out and enjoy the water). The POFQ is very tiny, nothing is more than maybe a 5 minute walk from the main building. Thank you to Fiona and everyone too! Thanks! Denise

Wonderful photos Written by Fiona - UK, on 01-19-2008 05:03 We have been looking for the right hotel to stay in when we visit florida in a year or two to get married. All the photo-walks are great, but this one left me crying, its perfect! Thank you for providing so much more of a feel to the resort than any brochures can.
