Disney Park and Resort Photo Updates

7/18 Magic Kingdom Update – Fantasyland, Tiki Room, Extreme Makeover Home Edition Event

Hi everyone!

We spent two days at the Magic Kingdom – first Friday, and then Sunday to celebrate Disneyland's 56th birthday (we rode the equivilent of Disneyland's original 1955 rides, including Snow White's Scary Adventures and the Tomorrowland Speedway). Each day we were able to get photos and video of construction in the park, you'll find Fantasyland at both the beginning and near the end of this article. We also have coverage of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition taping that surprised us in the park on Sunday!

Just a quick refillable mug test update (we stopped at the All Star Sports Resort on Monday afternoon 7/18). I wrote an article last week on the upcoming test, and the display monitors are now set up on the machines. The soda machines are reading the chips inside the refillable mugs, but the flow of the soda was not restricted. That should change in the next couple of days. I also took a photo of the bottom of a standard cup, you can see the RFID chip embedded in it.  We have a short video which shows in part how it will work, but will head back when the test has officially started!

Entering into the Magic Kingdom on Friday, we were surprised at the patriotic banners still up. They seemed to multiply by Sunday, and we eventually found out why (the Extreme Makeover taping).
