New Years Eve 2009 Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios Photos and Videos

Some photos heading into Epcot, which was very crowded – the World Showplace was open for a buffet, and for guests needing to use the bathrooms.  In the last couple of years, I’ve never seen any sort of line at the restrooms there on New Years Eve (other bathrooms tend to have long lines).

A woman was taking a nap while waiting for Illuminations:

This area by some water was inhabited by guests, a gate had been left open accidentally.  Dan Cockerell and Jim McPhee were scrambling to get a new area (which ended up being in Canada) for guests to lay in the grass.  We didn’t stay long enough to find out how they asked the guests to leave.  I have met Dan previously, he’s very nice and I did tell him I was disappointed about the Lights of Winter not being part of Epcot this year.   The only good thing about them being gone was that we looked outside of Disney for some of our Christmas entertainment, including visiting Celebration and ICE at Gaylord Palms.  (I definitely plan for both next year again, I really enjoy the ice slides!)

There were long lines for hats and horns early on, special menu items at carts, and the stages being set up.  The techo-dance club style music is too loud for me, so I like to leave after the early fireworks:

90 minute before the early Illuminations, we got a spot for viewing – I was surprised we were able to find such a great place! Others came in even later, up to 45 minutes or less and were able to find room:
