Detailed Look at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, Disneyland Hotel from August 2011

Hi everyone!

We had a great trip to Disneyland last month, and one treat was being able to visit Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar for my birthday. It’s apparent in every nook and cranny that it was created not only for fans, but by fans.

Trader Sam’s is located at the Disneyland hotel, approximately a 10 minute walk from the gates of Disneyland (or you can take a monorail to get closer). It’s located next to the Tangaroa Terrace, a new counter service location. We stopped by for a few minutes to look around around the Tangaroa Terrace, but I’d love to see our East Coast version back – that was a childhood (and early adulthood) favorite of mine.

We had no problem getting a table at Trader Sam’s early one evening after the D23 Expo had ended it’s run. We heard later that it was filled to capacity with a line out the door during each Expo night, we were glad to have a couple of hours inside! There is a patio outside in addition to the indoor seating for about 50, as seen in the first photo above. Disney says the bar is inspired by the Jungle Cruise, but it’s really a combination of the Jungle Cruise, Adventurer’s Club, the Enchanted Tiki Room and more!

There were three of us at our table, and we enjoyed both a light amount of food and a few drinks. We ordered a Cheese Flatbread ($7.99), and I believe the other entree – one that our friend Ryan ordered – was the Tamarind-Glazed Island Pork Wings ($12.99). Our flatbread was good, not different though from anything we’ve had elsewhere at Disney.

Jeff and I shared an Uh Oa! drink. The drink items didn’t have prices listed on the menu, but this one clocked in at around $20.00. The Uh Oa! was recommended for 2 – 4 guests, but there was quite a bit of ice in all the drinks – so I think 2 guests is perfect for it (and along with the ice, there was plenty of alchohol as well – so I’d not recommend it for only 1 guest). It’s quite the show when you order this drink (as well as other drinks such as the Shipwreck on the Rocks).

I spent quite a bit of time checking out – and taking photos of – the various items around Trader Sam’s. When tables are filled, it would be hard to see as much detail. These first two photos are Adventurer Club references.

Behind glass, you can see a variety of items that includes letters and envelopes from the Adventurer’s Club. The letter above is from Pamelia Perkins, and we received some of the envelopes pictured here on one of the last official days of the Club. I also have over 400 photos of the Adventurer’s Club from it’s last days here and here!
