Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Photo Walk 2012

Hi everyone

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort was the first moderate resort on Walt Disney World property, a huge change from where I had usually stayed with my family at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. Up until then, there hadn’t been a resort with exterior hallways, nor had their been a food court prior at a Disney resort.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort was a favorite of the marathon guests I booked when I worked as a Disney specialized travel agent. It is a very spread out property, with 6 villages and nearly a mile and a half of walkway to exercise on around the lake. I enjoy most of Disney’s resorts now for various reasons – the Caribbean Beach Resort is more laid back and very serene, and the walking here is wonderful.

Old Port Royale is the hub of the activity, with the food court, stores and Shutters restaurant. I’ll also show a few pictures at the end of the Custom House, which is not part of the walk (it’s where guests register, but unlike most other resorts, it’s not the main hub).

Walking out the back of the building, our walk starts at the fountain. I’ll have photos of the Pirate themed feature pool area near the end.

I always take the photos first, then time the walk at my normal pace (about 3mph). I start the timed walk at 9:25am, and we are walking to the right and around the lake. Most walks tend to be about a mile, this is closer to a mile and a half.

Martinique is the first village we will be passing. The lake is on the left, and the blue buildings of Martinique on the right.

 

It’s 9:27am when I reach Building 25, just 2 minutes after beginning the walk.

We aren’t veering from the path that travels around the lake.

I mentioned that each Village has a pool, I will be showing some of those (though they aren’t timed stops).

We passed the Martinique pool at 9:28am, and are heading towards the next village, which will be Barbados:

There is a bridge to the left that creates a shortcut from this area to Old Port Royale, we pass here at 9:38am.

This is my favorite area of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. The entire resort is laid back, but this area feels very remote.

I arrived at the end of the walkway at 9:51am. When I did this photo walk in 2007, my walk went through the parking lot at this point. Instead, we’ll cover a few minutes of the same ground (until the bridge) and then head back to Old Port Royale.

Back at the fountain at 10:03am, 38 minutes after we started (I mentioned it’s about a mile and a half walk, and I walk around 3mph normally – so that is right on schedule for me!)

A couple of weeks earlier, I’d taken photos of the pool area with nobody in the water. It was a gorgeous day out!

Unlike most other resorts at Walt Disney World, the registration area is not in the same building as the food court and shops (it’s a few minute drive between buildings). I stopped by the Custom House for a few photos before heading out for the day. Cast Members were selling breakfast items inside the Custom House.
