2/3 Disney/Pixar “Brave” Artwork and Maquettes – Princess Merida, More, Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Hi everyone!
I was working on my DHS to Epcot photo walk today, and stopped into Disney’s Hollywood Studios to check on a few things, including the Magic of Disney Animation building to see if Disney/Pixar’s Brave artwork was yet up.
I was told in December that the display should be up the first week of January, but it is just in the process of changing over now (a lot of the artwork is there, but I was told more is coming). The banners in the courtyard still promote Prep and Landing, and even the posted sign stated that Winnie the Pooh and Cars 2 were there. We always try to photograph the artwork in the first few days, and I checked as I always do.

Sorcerer Mickey from Fantasia is currently in front of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
A couple of new posters are up near the Animation Gallery, including Tangled Ever After and Wreck-It Ralph:
There are several pieces of artwork on the wall, and currently two small cases of art, photos, and maquettes closer to the ground than before (this changed a couple of months back). A Cast Member said that the cases were lowered so that guests in wheelchairs could see them. He also said that more cases should be there soon with other Brave artwork (I hope that is true). There are also two other maquettes in separate displays.
I am looking forward to Brave more than any other film this year. What I’ve seen so far of the film is very lush and spirited, and I love Scotland. The fiery redhead Princess Merida is Pixar’s first female lead, and this is Pixar’s first fairytale. It certainly has a darker tone to it than other Pixar films, but there were quite a few funny moments in the trailers as well.

The one thing that was hard for me to capture was the bow and arrows in the first case. I did okay with it by cropping one photo (second picture down), but the lighting was pretty uneven in the cases. Normally the lighting is better, I hope they can fix it.
The televisions that used to be outside of the Animation Gallery are gone:
I was told that the Storyboard room is being turned into a more generic room, but it’s currently blacked out – so we’ll see when it opens back up!
The storyboard sketches that are normally in the Storyboard Room are in the Magic of Disney Animation show, at the stage area. I was told about them, or else I’d have have found these sketches!

In the shop, more medium figures (including Jessica Rabbit) are for sale. An Art of Disney Cast Member told us earlier this week that the big figures won’t be sold past March.
And I thought these were very interesting – vinyl laptop and tablet cases with the original Walt Disney World logo.
