5/30 Pixar Brave Highland Games Tournament Area in Epcot Readies for Opening – Including Sand Castle

Hi everyone!

From June 1st – July 8th, Epcot will be the setting for Brave – The Highland Games Tournament! Tents have been set up, as has a Brave sand castle, and kids can look forward to games such as Mini Caber Toss, Haggis Flip and archery. The playground from the 2012 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival is still up for the event, and free enhanced wireless will be available!

The film Brave opens on June 22nd – it's the film I've most anticipated over the past year!

The walkway with the roses near Journey into Imagination will take you straight to the festivities!

 

 

 

There are character pictures from Brave inside the tents, and different names on the tents – like, DunBroch is the name of the Kingdom in the film where Princess Merida lives in Scotland. Characters in the film include Lord Macintosh and Lord Dingwall, and you see their photos inside the tents (and names outside).

I am always happy to see sand sculptures at Epcot, especially while they are being built (we didn't get to see that this time). The artists who build them are very talented! Princess Merida, the triplets from Brave, and other characters are included in this sculpture.

Behind the sand scuplture, there is an area being set up for the games. The walkway reminds me of the inside of Bambi's Butterfly Tent from the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival!

 

 

 

This is the second area that has been set up in the parks ahead of the film! Princess Merida is greeting guests in a Fairytale Garden at the Magic Kingdom, we have photos and video here. While I've not heard anything about Princess Merida heading back to Epcot anytime soon, it was her first area for meeting guests early this month. Our first video of Princess Merida at Epcot is now over 40,000 views!

In addition to the film, a new book called The Art of Brave just released for nearly half the cover price on Amazon, and the Brave Soundtrack releases June 19th.
