Disney's All Star Resorts

Disney’s All Star Movies Resort Photo Walk 2012 – Toy Story, Herbie, Mighty Ducks, Fantasia, 101

With all the photo walks I’ve posted since 2007, this is the first of Disney’s All Star Resorts! I’m planning to put up the other two (Disney’s All Star Sports Resort, Disney’s All Star Music Resort) in the next couple of weeks, with the Lion King section of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort sandwiched in between.

I have stayed at the All Star Sports and Music Resorts multiple times, but never Disney’s All Star Movies Resort – although I have walked around the resort on a handful of occasions. During the 6 years that I was a Disney specialized travel agent, the Disney’s All Star Movies was the most requested All Star Resort (the Pop Century was the most requested Value resort). While Disney’s All Star Resorts are adequate for guests looking for a relatively inexpensive place to stay, I highly recommend taking a look at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort first – it’s redefined the term “Value resort”.

As I do with my other Photo Walks, I timed this one to give an idea of how long the circuit would take. Actually, “circuit” is not quite the right term, as there isn’t an easy path through the resort. There are a lot of meandering sidewalks, and we’ll be taking some of them. Before we start the clock, we’ll be taking a look inside Cinema Hall, which is the main hub of activity.

We’ll be starting the timed portion of the walk in the back of Cinema Hall at 11:51am. There is a view of the Fantasia Pool, with Sorcerer Mickey:

There is a small playground off to the right hand side. We are taking a non-timed stop here:

A dining area off to the left hand side looks like a film reel:

The timed walk will have us taking a right after the playground and walking to the Fantasia area, but first we will be heading straight to see the Toy Story section (off the clock). The Toy Story courtyard is set up as Andy’s room, and you walk through Andy’s door to get there. The enormous Toy Story Woody is impressive, but the soldiers on the rooftops look like cardboard cutouts. I like the fence around Woody, which resembles a film reel. Buzz Lightyear stands tall, while Bo Peep and Rex make great photo ops.

We are back out of Andy’s Room, and taking a left at the sidewalk near Toy Story 9. It’s the one we were going to take after the playground, if just timing the walk. We had stopped the timed portion of the walk here earlier, and we are starting back at 11:52am.

After we take the left, we are taking a right along the parking lot (still on the sidewalk), towards Fantasia.

We are turning to the right as we walk past Fantasia 8, passing by the kid’s water play area (along with the Fantasia bathrooms and laundry).

We are taking a left at the sidewalk at 11:53am, with the Fantasia pool in front of us.

When I’ve walked here before, there has been a Herbie in the Winners Circle. I am not sure how long it’s not been there, or when it might be coming back.

We are still walking around the circle…

…and then taking a left at Building 5. Herbie is on the left, Fantasia on the right. We will be walking past the Love Bug clapboard, and then taking a right at the parking lot sidewalk.

We are taking a right here toward the Mighty Ducks, walking past Fantasia at 11:58am and the taking a right at the Dalmatians 4 building.

The walk itself – minus the Toy Story section and playground – took me a total of 15 minutes.  Most sections aren’t more than a 5 minute walk from Cinema Hall.
