11/4 Be Our Guest Restaurant Dinner Review – Deluxe Dining Experience For a Moderate Price

When we arrived to our table, four roses greeted us – in napkin form. I liked the flourish so much that I didn't unfold mine until I needed to, mid-meal.

Jeff had several beers – it wasn't his first alcohol in the Magic Kingdom, he's been covering press events for over 20 years, but it was his first as a regular guest. I didn't order any wine, mostly because the per-glass prices starts around $10.00.

It was hard to read our menus, but our server had a flashlight!

I started my meal with the Garden Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette for $4.49. It was a nice salad for the price, with field greens instead of iceberg lettuce.

Jeff had the French Onion Soup, topped with crouton and gruyere cheese for $6.99. There was a ton of cheese on top!

We were brought a basket of rolls with sea salt butter. These were really good, we even asked for a second basket.

Daniel and Corinne ordered the Assorted Cured Meats and Sausages with cornichons, pickled onions and toasted baguette (serves 2) for $14.99. This was another winner! Everyone enjoyed the appetizers, and we all felt that these were a fair value for the money.

We received our entrees next.

Corinne ordered the Pan-Seared Salmon on Leek Fondue for $20.99.

Jeff and Daniel both ordered the Thyme-Scented Pork Rack Chop with au gratin macaroni, seasonal vegetables and red wine au jus for $21.99. This was the only item that was less than stellar at our table. Daniel thought it could use more spice, but Jeff thought it still had a lot of flavor.

I had the Grilled Strip Steak with garlic-herb butter and pommes frites for $29.99. While there was a little more fat around the edges than I prefer, it was perfectly done and delicious.

The pommes frites are steak fries (instead of the standard Disney fries, which I don't like). These complimented the steak very nicely.

If there was one minor disappointment, it is that the "Grey Stuff" isn't on the menu. It is really supposed to be for special occasions only, and is complimentary – one dollop for a table. I took photos off a dessert cart below, and then of our own desserts. I ordered the Chocolate Cream Puff, Jeff the Strawberry Cream Cheese Cupcake, and Corinne the Lemon Meringue Cupcake. At $3.99 each, it's a price where every guest can have their own. I took one photo below of my cream puff after cutting it in half, to show how much chocolate mousse ws inside. It was quite a bit!

The Grey Stuff plate below actually has a stencil where "Try the Grey Stuff" is added in chocolate to the plate. This is a wonderful touch! Also adding an air of elegance is the "Be Our Guest" printed on the dessert garnishes.

We had top-notch service, and I was particularly impressed by the presentation of each item. Pricewise, this is not a high-end Walt Disney World table service restaurant, but it has the feel of one. I hope that continues.  I would prefer to see another two or three items added to the entrees – maybe a Coq au Vin as one. There are only 6 entrees currently, and I've often used the word "ambitious" in describing the menu. There are only two items I'd order – it'd be nice to have more options.

Restaurants often go through changes, especially soon after opening. We had an exceptional experience over the 2 1/2 or so hours we sat for dinner and hope that this continues!

Our table of four spent about $180 after the 20% Tables in Wonderland discount (and including tip). That included appetizers, drinks, entrees, and desserts. That is about $45 per person, and we could have spent much less. The least expensive entree is the Layered Ratoutille for $15.99.
