12/2 Test Track 2.0 at Epcot: Feels Like Tron – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

We were invited to a Cast Member preview of the new Test Track 2.0 redesigned attraction, it is very different from it's predecessor in every way but the loading area and ride itself! The attraction has a solid Tron: Legacy feel to it. We went through 4 times, and have several videos up. I wanted to share some photos and thoughts as well!

I remember when Test Track first opened in 1998, I was really biting at the reigns to go! I'd really enjoyed World of Motion, that was one of my favorite Epcot attractions from the early days of Epcot Center. But I was excited to try something new as well, and I found a Cast Member online who offered to take me. Unfortunately, I never found the Cast Member once there – but another CM took pity and invited us to join him. I remember it was a very long wait, at least 2 hours! Yesterday was very different, we didn't have to wait at all for any of our 4 rides!

The new Test Track experience does take more time than the old one. I kept forgetting to clock it, but it's probably at least a 20 minute experience to see it fully – from entering the queue, to designing the car, to riding and having your photo taken at the end (and that is if there is nobody else there). The design experience takes a while, we even had a glitch where our system rebooted and we had to start over.

We enjoyed designing our car, it makes each experience completely unique. I had no idea what I was doing the first time, and made a vehicle that doesn't resemble any car I've seen in my life – but that was the fun of it! I don't know if it will be as fun in say…25 visits as it is in 4 – sometimes it's fun just to "ride the ride" and not have to go through all the motions ahead of time. I do like the interactive aspect of it, and most guests won't go through but once or twice – and kids will LOVE designing their car!

The attraction lights up beautifully at night! And once inside, there are a couple of different cars to see – including the Chevrolet En-V, which resembles some sort of bug.

A video is shown, talking about car design:

This "Design Key" will store your car design. Somehow we ended up getting a different car during one of our 4 visits, but otherwise it was the same!

We queued up to design our car – each of the Design Stations will allow for 2 or 3 guests.

Once inside, you can design the shape of the car, along with add paint and features. These are photos from several of our visits through – we had a completely different car each time!
