Amy Grant, Gary Sinise Narrate Disney’s Candlelight Processional, Epcot 2012 – Photos
Hi everyone!
This has been a busy week for us – but mostly for fun, enjoying Christmas festivities at a variety of parks and resorts in the area. One of our favorite events is the Epcot Candlelight Processional, which I've been attending since the mid-90's. This week, I was able to see my favorite singer, Amy Grant, narrate for the first time! And Gary Sinise, another Candlelight favorite, was back after several years away.
When we found out that Amy Grant was going to be narrating, Jeff splurged on a Candlelight package for us. We normally enjoy dinner and the show separately (for less money), but wanted to secure a closer spot for one show. We ended up seeing her three times last night! Christmas week is actually a great time to see the Candlelight Processional, since seasonal passes are blocked out.
I've been a fan of Amy Grant since 1983 – I can't believe it's been 30 years! I first saw her in concert at Walt Disney World's Night of Joy in 1984, the only year she ever played at the Magic Kingdom event. I had just graduated high school, she was in her very early 20's. We are both middle aged now, though she seems as beautiful and gracious as ever (I finally had the chance to meet her two years ago).
If you haven't seen Epcot's Candlelight Processional, it is the telling of the Christmas story from Luke. Along with the narration, there is a mass choir, orchestra, and the Voices of Liberty. There have been some changes since last year, including the addition of a story about Joseph Mohr's Silent Night (see Amy Grant narrate that section here). I've always loved the show – which is free, guests don't need to buy a dinner package to see it. Back in the 90's and early 2000's, there were a lot of perks to having the package, but that isn't the case anymore (there is special Illuminations viewing). I do recommend the package for the extremely popular narrators like Whoopi Goldberg, but we've enjoyed many shows this year package-free.
I wanted to share some photos of Amy Grant, as well as Gary Sinise. Another favorite narrator pair will be here this week as well – Marlee Matlin with Jack Jason. We are looking forward to seeing them narrate again!
We also have a video of the song "Joy to the World", which includes Amy Grant's narration before it.
And here are photos from Christmas night as Gary Sinise narrated. He honored veterans at the end of the show, which I always appreciate! Another of the videos we have posted from this show is the song "Rejoice With Exceeding Great Joy".
While we have a few favorite narrators, the constant in the show is the choir, orchestra and Voices of Liberty. They are always incredible! If you have a chance to see Epcot's Candlelight Processional this week or in the future, I highly recommend it.
