Downtown Disney Photo Update – Disney Springs Construction, Pleasure Island, Parking Garages From Characters in Flight & Artwork
Hi everyone!
We had to use our Characters in Flight Groupon yesterday or lose it, so we headed to Downtown Disney to get an update. Jeff pushed me in a wheelchair (I fractured my ankle last week) – for anyone in a similar situation, Characters in Flight is very easy to be wheeled onto.

It was a gorgeous day, and so much is going on. It is nice to feel like something is actually happening to transform Downtown Disney into Disney Springs. It has been over a year since the announcement was first made.
The food trucks always seem to be somwhere different during our visits.
Food Truck Park is coming in summer 2014. I hope that visiting food trucks will be invited as well, we haven’t heard much about it yet.
Pleasure Island signage is still up.
The line wasn’t long for Characters in Flight.
Characters in Flight not only sells a pin, but guests can purchase a picture package as well.
The crew members quickly loaded my wheelchair into the balloon.
And we were off! We went up as high as the balloon can go, the wind allowed for that (it doesn’t always). These photos show our views mostly of the Pleasure Island area (that was the view my wheelchair was parked for, fortunately) and the parking garages. I am adding our video here too, Jeff did a great job as always with it!
This is the back of the Starbucks construction, and I believe the Food Truck Park is to the right.
The walking bridge to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort has progressed nicely.
It is amazing to see how much work is going on around Raglan Road and Paradiso 37.
And here is a look at the Four Seasons Orlando, opening summer 2014.
Heading out of Characters in Flight, we decided to walk to the Marketplace.
Pleasure Island ignage shouldn’t be around much longer.
Everytime we go to Downtown Disney, we find new-to-us artwork.

There is so much artwork, so many walls!
Another sign that will disappear at some point in the near future.
Heading back to the West Side.

Near the AMC Theaters and Splitsville, more Disney Springs concept art can be seen.
I took a few photos of the parking garage construction from the road.
The entire Disney Springs concept should be finished in about 2 years, spring of 2016. It can’t come to soon for us! We read yesterday that some upscale restaurants were signing on, but I look more forward to quality counter service and casual table service. The parking garages will be great, since parking can be difficult at some times of year.
