“Coco” Storytelling and Miguel Puppet Join Mariachi Cobre at Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion on March 6th, 2019

Hi everyone!

Disney has announced that we’ll be seeing more of Disney-Pixar’s Coco next month! A pair of Folklórico dancers and a hand-crafted Miguel puppet will join the talented Mariachi Cobre starting March 6th, 2019 at Epcot. Miguel appeared in puppet form at Disneyland Paris in October of 2017 and 2018, we had the opportunity to interact with him a few months ago. He also was part of A Musical Celebration Of Coco at Disney California Adventure this past year. The story of Coco is a powerful one and Epcot’s Mexico pavilion has offered a terrific Day of the Dead exhibit since late 2017 in conjunction with the film. We also spoke to director Lee Unkrich last year and he told us how Epcot’s Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride inspired the film.

For the new Epcot addition beginning March 6th, the dancers will perform to the music of the film – played by Mariachi Cobre – and Miguel should delight everyone as he has in Disneyland Paris and Disney California Adventure. Mariachi Cobre will also continue regular sets of Mariachi music. We have heard them play music from Coco and guests really love it!

The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival kicks off on March 6th, 2019 and this with it. I don’t know if the Coco inspired musical show will continue past the end of the festival, which is June 3rd, 2019.

Here is our video of the Miguel puppet at Disneyland Paris, he was a meet and greet character more than anything in October but occasionally their Mariachi band would stop by and play music as well.

This is the portion of our interview with Coco director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson where Unkrich talks about Epcot’s Gran Fiesta Tour being an inspiration for Coco (as well as showing the filmmakers honored at “Coco Day in L.A.”)

We will be there as always for the first day of the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival (and the weeks leading up to it as flowers and topiaries are added). This will be my 13th year posting about the Festival here and I will be sharing tips and photos! My favorite time of year at Epcot will be even better with this addition!
