Trail’s End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground Reopens (Photos, Video)

Hi everyone!

Trail’s End Restaurant and Crockett’s Tavern have now reopened at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Trail’s End has been a longtime favorite of ours, for almost 30 years for me and even longer for Jeff. In fact, Jeff will be sharing some vintage video of Trail’s End and Crockett’s Tavern on our show next week (including a visit by Fess Parker).

Trail’s End was a buffet restaurant for a long time, but not since the pandemic reopening. It was, however, a table service restaurant and that is no longer the case. It is now a quick-service restaurant with a grab-and-go option. Also, there is no longer any mention of P&J’s Southern Takeout, which Trail’s End To Go was renamed to in 2015 to honor two longtime Cast Members.

Here is our video tour of Trail’s End from yesterday, followed by photos.

We showed up in the afternoon to have lunch and check out the newly refurbished location.

The sign for Trail’s End is out front.

The first thing I noticed inside the doors was a display of s’mores kits for $9.99 each.

The decor of Trail’s End has been scaled back a lot. In that way, it isn’t the same as before. A friend we were with said he found it a brighter, cleaner look.

Here is a look at a chandelier, which has a horseshoe design but it also reminds me of hidden Mickeys.

To the left, there is a pizza making area. You can still buy a whole pizza or there is a large slice option.

Here is a look at the “Pizza by the Super Slice” prices.

The slices indeed looked large here.

There are also fruit and pastry options.

The case includes bagels, cookies and cupcakes.

Drinks are in the case to the left, alongside other food items. Beyond the pastry case is a hot case of food. There were a lot of Cast Members/managers in that area so I wasn’t able to get a photo of it from a distance.

Guests can purchase chicken to go here. But you don’t have to take it from here if you want chicken cooked fresh – food can be ordered on the app.

There is a whole rack of ribs.

Green beans and macaroni and cheese are available.

Cowboy beans, chili and mashed potatoes are among the sides in containers. I love the mashed potatoes here, and a while back the cowboy beans stopped being available with meals (I am glad they are available here).

There is also pulled pork.

Cold chicken and other items are in this case.

There are quite a few desserts and snacks to choose from, including a s’mores cupcake, banana pudding and a strawberry cup.

Entrees include a brisket sandwich, chicken wrap and salads.

You can get hand-scooped ice cream (it is from Edy’s).

And cornbread does come with some meals, but you can purchase a loaf like previously.

There are allergy-friendly snacks and other items.

Mickey crisped rice treats are available.

One soda machine is located here, along with a coffee machine.

We were seated across from the mobile pickup area. See the hidden Mickey in the pans?

We normally buy a larger meal for leftovers, but we were heading to EPCOT and didn’t have a way to transport food. So we purchased a single meal with 2 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and a small piece of cornbread.

This view was also from our table.

Here are more photos around the restaurant.

Crockett’s Tavern looks a bit different in decor as well. The seat backs here look a lot like Silver Spur Steakhouse at Disneyland Paris.

Outside, there was not yet the return of picnic tables or rocking chairs (everything should be coming soon). Also, Davy Crockett’s Wilderness Arcade had not yet reopened but will be.

The Crockett’s Tavern window was also open for business.

In the wood, there was what looked like little badges and spurs.

We look forward to heading back to Trail’s End Restaurant again in the near future. Some of our favorite food items are still here and we love Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
