Carnival Cruise Line Debuts New Beer at the Red Frog Pub & Brewery on Carnival Vista for American Craft Beer Week

Hi everyone!

We were in Miami this past weekend as Carnival Cruise Line debuted its new (limited release) Miami Guava Wheat beer in the Red Frog Pub & Brewery during American Craft Beer Week.  Miami Guava Wheat joins the three other original draft beers brewed only onboard Carnival Vista – ThirstyFrog Port Hoppin’ IPA, ThirstyFrog Caribbean Wheat, and FriskyFrog Java Stout. The Carnival Vista has the first brewery aboard a North American-based cruise ship, but that will change next year when the Carnival Horizon joins the fleet.

We sailed this past December on the Carnival Vista and really enjoyed our 5 nights aboard – just about everything we’ve enjoyed on other Carnival ships is part of Carnival’s newest ship, and then some. The Carnival Vista will be moving to Galveston, TX when the Carnival Horizon takes its place in Miami next year.

Jeff joined brewmaster Colin Presby for a glass of the new Miami Guava Wheat. Carnival Cruise Line says about the beer, Miami Guava Wheat reflects the tropics with a light body and palate-pleasing notes of tangy pink guava, the primary ingredient in Miami’s ever-popular guava pastries. Presby started home brewing in 2006 and has been brewing professionally for 7 years. He is the first brewmaster on a Carnival ship.

Here is our video from the tapping, with a look around the Red Frog Pub and Brewery and an interview with brewmaster Presby.

Here are a few photos of the Red Frog Pub & Brewery.

The Red Frog Pub has become a staple of many Carnival Cruise Line ships, and the brewery addition has added another aspect to the pub on the Carnival Vista.

Presby gets ready to tap the cask. He said the idea of the Miami Guava Wheat had been several months in the making. He was inspired by tastes of Miami, the city that is home base for Carnival Cruise Line.

The cask is tapped.

Presby carries a pitcher of the new beer, which will be around for a couple of weeks but may be brewed again if it proves popular.

Thanks to Carnival Cruise Line for having us out for this fun event.
