Disney Park and Resort Photo Updates

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Photo Update from January 2nd, 2018

Hi everyone!

It is a cold one here in Central Florida, bottoming out into the 30s tonight. We did head out yesterday to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a couple of hours, it had been a couple of months since we’ve visited during the day (we’ve visited quite often through the holidays at night). Here is a look around the park, including Disney Skyliner progression and concept art, along with the Miss Piggy fountain and much more.

Driving in, the Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge construction has progressed a lot since we last photographed here.

The American flag topped it off a few weeks ago.

Here is a closer look.

And a few more photos on the way in.

I had not seen the Sorcerer Mickey topiary holiday additions yet, it was nice to get to see them before they are removed for the season.

The brooms have bows and carry ornaments in their buckets.

Sorcerer Mickey holds an ornament.

Here is one other angle.

Nearby, the Disney Skyliner gondola work is ongoing. Here are a few photos from that.

Concept art went up a few days ago here for the Disney Skyliner.

Here is a look at what it may look like with the Tower of Terror in view.

The Disney Skyliner will travel from Epcot (the International Gateway) to Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

Here are a few closeups of the concept art.

There is a long fence that encompasses the area near the bus stop and beginning of the walkway to Epcot.

The Epcot Festival of the Holidays advertising was still up, even though it ended a few days earlier.

Christmas decorations can be seen with Star Wars characters in the background.

Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! merchandise is discounted. For example, the Tervis mug with lid was $9.99 plus tax. This was already a nice mug for the former price, even better now.

Trolley Treats Cafe’ had what looks like the Carrot Cake Cookie in the case. Remember you can earn Starbucks points at any of the in-park Starbucks locations (and can redeem rewards at Disney Springs Starbucks stores). I generally look first into Starbucks to see if they are carrying something I want – from treats to merchandise.

Echo Lake was one of my favorite areas at Walt Disney World for the holidays in 2017, and I hope it will continue for 2018. Dinosaur Gertie, the decorations, music and Christmas tree – all of it worked well.

Min & Bill’s Dockside Diner with the Christmas tree in the foreground.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue banners.

At Tatooine Traders, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge merchandise is available – I believe this all came out with Galactic Nights.

A wider look at the merchandise.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge t-shirt.

Solo t-shirt.

A lot of trees have been planted over at Tatooine Traders, blocking the construction view of the upcoming land from this location.

Photopass photographers are taking photos of guests at this Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge (upcoming) entrance.

This is a look at it without the guests or photographer.

Grand Avenue is now finished.

The last shop facade is a music shop.

Merchandise for the upcoming land is being sold here too, much the same as in Tatooine Traders and a lot less crowded.

The Miss Piggy fountain recently went back to being a fountain again as opposed to a planter.

The windows of the Stage 1 Company Store still had a Nightmare Before Christmas vibe, though this used to be mostly a Muppets shop.

Part of the store was closed for some sort of work (the area that was geared towards kids), but both Muppets and Nightmare Before Christmas were mentioned on the doors and both are sold inside.

I am still not sure about this hat, with Chip and Dale stitched in – so you can’t wear the hat nor see both Chip & Dale and the hat at the same time.

The hat upright hides the chipmunks.

Goofy meeting nearby.

From Pixar Place, there isn’t much of a view of the Star Wars construction – but some.

The At-At popcorn bucket was for sale at this popcorn stand.

The term “bucket” is used somewhat loosely here, but it is still pretty cool.

March of the First Order.

And on our way out, I noticed a Porg Rice Krispie Treat.

Our next update should be about Maria & Enzo’s, look for that in a couple of days!
