Artegon Orlando (Formerly Festival Bay) to Open Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill Next Month; Leasing Open House

Festival Bay Mall used to be a favorite of mine. It never did manage a full slate of stores, but held steady with some very strong anchor tenants, including Sheplers and Cinemark. Now, Artegon is breathing new life into the mall, which will open Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill next month. More concepts will be coming this year, as Artegon Orlando now speeds toward an October, 2014 Grand Opening. And they are looking for small, unique retailers and artisans for their Marketplace concept!

We talked with Steve Sless, Executive Vice President of Artegon Orlando about the upcoming Artegon Orlando mall, and he allowed us to take photos of some concept art. Artegon bought the mall 3 years ago, it is quite large on 140 acres with 1/2 mile of frontage. On our visit, we saw quite a few visitors who were heading to Ron Jon Surf Shop, Fuddruckers and other tenants that have stayed put through the changes.

What can you expect at Artegon Orlando this year? What we are looking forward to most is the 20,000 square foot Berghoff German Beer Hall. Berghoff’s began in Chicago in 1898 and is 4th-generation owned, so they obviously are doing something very right – and we can’t what to see what has made it so popular!

Artegon Orlando will also be opening a 46,000 square foot bowling complex called Revolutions Eat. Drink. Rock & Bowl – there has been a huge resurgence of bowling in the Orlando area, expecially with specialty food and drink. Redbourne Skatepark has also signed on to the project.

Artegon is bringing a marketplace concept that Sless likens to Faneuil Hall in Boston – where visitors can have their “own personal sense of discovery” with a lot of independent vendors and artists. One of the most interesting concepts we were told about includes glass blowing classes. Sless expects 165 marketplace tenants by October 16th, which should make Artegon Orlando a heavily sought-out destination for Orlando visitors. Sless mentioned other projects in the area, including I-Drive Live with the phrase, “A rising tide lifts all boats”.

International Drive will be more of a destination than ever once all these projects are done. And with Artegon being just around the corner from Universal Studios, it should be a great place to wind down after a long day exploring Diagon Alley later this year.
