Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Celebrates Mardi Gras with Golf Cart Parade, Princess Tiana & Prince Naveen

Hi everyone!

Each year, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort celebrates Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday with a parade. Cast Members decorate pargo golf carts and wear fun costumes, throwing beads and candy to guests who line the pathway through Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort! Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen were part of the procession. The parade began earlier than usual, at 10:00 a.m. I had to miss it due to a media event, but Jeff was able to capture the parade in both photos and video!

Arnell is one of our favorite greeters at Walt Disney World. We always head to Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter for the parade, watching first along the Sassagoula River.

Signs this morning were up for the Mardi Gras Parade and Block Party. We planned to go to the Block Party tonight, but the weather has been very rainy.

The time was changed for the Mardi Gras Parade to 10 a.m. this year (usually it is in the afternoon). More guests are still at the resort in the morning to enjoy it.

Here is our video and then check out the photos!

Cast Members carry the Mardi Gras banner.

A baton twirler leads the parade.

There were several horse drawn carriages this year.

Cast Members throw candy to guests.

The theme for this year is Magical Music. I don’t quite know how the Flintstones fit into it, but it is one of my favorite carts.

Cast Members really get into the spirit of Mardi Gras.

Carts were decorated for music, like this one that features Disney Scores and Soundtracks.

A Cast Member hands out beads.

Elvis made an appearance!

Mousekeeping created this pop music cart.

Cowboys and cowgirls are next.

This was too cute!

Totally 80’s cart.

Back when MTV played music videos…

Disco is next.

Back to the 90’s.

Electronica.

Jeff’s favorite cart was this KISS cart! We have interviews with Gene and Paul from KISS on our Mousesteps YouTube channel from January.

The Lion King cart was also very creative.

Princess Tiana had been by herself for the last year or two, so it was nice to see Prince Naveen join her again!

We really enjoy this event each year!

We highly recommend visiting Disney’s Port Orleans Resort for Mardi Gras.
