8/8 Grand Floridian Disney Vacation Club Construction Update
Hi everyone!
We were invited to the Garden View Tea Room with friends this week, and took time out to photograph the Grand Floridian DVC construction!
We've posted several updates that might be of interest over the last week, including Gaston and LeFou in Fantasyland, the Little Mermaid section construction at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, and a photo tour of the Lion King area of Disney's Art of Animation Resort!
We haven't been to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort in a couple of months, and quite a bit has changed since then. The beach pool bar should open on August 24th for counter service food, and then the Gasparilla Grill goes down until December.
Arriving at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, you can see the wall from the road, and construction from the parking lot.
From the second floor of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, you can see where pool bar is being constructed. Nearby, a children's water play area will be themed to Alice in Wonderland. You can see that in the foreground.

More of the construction:
Before I share photos from ground level, here are a few photos from the Grand Floridian tea. I haven't been to the Garden View Tea Room in a couple of years, and the prices went significantly in that time. The former Sally Lunn Tea choice is no longer available (it was my favorite), and the trifle recipe changed. So while I had a great time with friends – and there are still some wonderful choices on the menu – it's no longer a "must do". Actually, that ended when Disney stopped serving the Harney Cinnamon Spice Tea (just before my last visit). I will write up a review when I have a chance with more photos. The service and presentation were stellar!
Heading outside:
Here are photos I took, starting at the Grand Floridian main building and then along the path to the Wedding Pavilion of the construction. There will be quite a few changes to the Grand Floridian over the next year – and really, it seems to all of the monorail resorts. We do have a video showing the different construction areas!
This is the view from the beach pool:
If you'd like to see what this area looked like before, you can see it in my Grand Floridian Photo Walk from 2007!
If you have questions about the Disney Vacation Club, I recommend Mouseowners ! It's a great place to learn about it, and to join a friendly community. And even if you aren't interested now in the Disney Vacation Club, I recommend checking out the forums.
