World of Chima Expansion Announced for LEGOLAND Florida – Presented by Cartoon Network

LEGOLAND Florida has been teasing it’s upcoming expansion, which was rumored for a while to be a Pirates addition to the park. Today, LEGOLAND Florida officially announced this park expansion, titled The World of Chima presented by Cartoon Network.

The LEGO Chima brand is very new, with with the Legends of Chima show already previewing on the Cartoon Network (the show will officially begin later this year). LEGOLAND Florida is the only place where guests will be able to immerse themselves in this new world, sometime this summer (LEGOLAND General Manager Adrian Jones told us they were shooting for July, but that date isn’t set in stone). Unlike most attractions, the rollout of the show and the expansion will be concurrent.

The centerpiece of this area will be an interactive water ride called The Quest for CHI. This should be a great ride for summer, as it sounds like guests can get very wet!

According to LEGOLAND, "Guests will enter The World of Chima through a fantastical stone and moss covered entrance which leads to the Lion Temple at the base of the majestic 45-foot tall floating Mount Cavora. There, guests will explore a diverse landscape setting and join the Lion Tribe in an epic battle to recover the stolen CHI orbs. Guests will board a watercraft which will take them on an interactive experience using water cannons to help their hero, Laval the Lion Prince, defeat Cragger the Crocodile King as he attempts to steal the precious supply of CHI. The journey will take them through the land of Chima where they will meet some of the highly advanced animal tribal habitats, including the Rhino Quarry, Raven's Roost, Eagle's Nest, Wolves Encampment, Gorilla Forest and Crocodile Swamp among other imaginative settings".

Guests who choose to sit out the ride can still participate, shooting water cannons at boats.

The World of Chima will also feature a "super-charged, super fast Speedorz Arena where multiple players build their LEGO Speedorz and compete to win the precious supply of CHI by participating in a series of obstacles".

There will also be a meet and greet with Lava the Lion Prince and Cragger the Crocodile King from Legends of Chima, and a new LEGO Chima 4D Movie Xperience.

LEGOLAND Florida opened in 2011, and has been expanding quickly ever since. With the water park opening last year, the Star Wars MINILAND expansion in late 2012, and The World of Chima, LEGOLAND Florida is pushing full speed ahead.
