Help Mousesteps Raise $3000 for Give Kids the World – Denise is on the GKTW Team for Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend!

Hi everyone!

A couple of months ago, I signed up for the Run GKTW team (Run Give Kids the World) to run the half-marathon in January. It isn’t my first time running a Disney event, I was part of the Minnie Marathon in 2008, and two Expedition Everest Challenges since then.

This will be my first half-marathon since the Minnie, I’m really excited! After the Minnie Marathon in 2008, I had an arthritis diagnosis – I could barely walk for months. I was concerned about running again, even after the specialist cleared me. We do walk a lot through the parks and resorts, but I’m looking forward to a new challenge.

I’ve thought about entering races for the last few years, and this year I’m finally jumping in – it’s a win-win, I get to raise money for Give Kids the World, an organization I volunteer with. Give Kids the World is really a magical place for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. There are over 140 spacious villas. Families enjoy a week-long trip that includes visits to area parks, and the Village itself is full of whimsy and lots to do! It is a special place to volunteer, and I’ve met a lot of wonderful families.

For the Give Kids the World team, I need to raise $3000 by December 31st, 2013 ($500 by the end of July, $1200 by September 30th). I know there are a lot of other fundraising requests you all get! Every dollar will help me make it to the goal of $3000 – and if I can raise more, that is even better. Give Kids the World makes it possible for families to visit Walt Disney World and other attractions when they otherwise never could. You can read more about Give Kids the World here.

If you’d consider donating to my page, I’d really appreciate it! It doesn’t have to be much, even $1 and $5 increments add up!

Thanks to everyone who has already donated as well. 🙂 I’ll be starting training in earnest mid-August, I am looking forward to getting back into form!
