Carnival Cruise Line Adding Seuss at Sea, Camp Ocean to Shore Up Kid’s Activities

Hi everyone!

During our 2 night cruise on the Carnival Sunshine, we learned about two new initiatives that kids on Carnival ships should really enjoy. Carnival is ramping up it’s children’s activities to include Seuss at Sea and Camp Ocean, both rolling out this year.

I grew up with Dr. Seuss, so this program really excites me! Carnival Splendor kicked off Seuss at Sea, which includes the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast, along with Seuss-a-Palooza Story Time. Carnival Freedom and Carnival Vista will have a dedicated Bookville space onboard. Seuss at Sea is being guided very closely by Dr. Seuss Enterprises, led by Audrey Geisel (the widow of Theodor Geisel, aka. Dr. Seuss).

The Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with Cat in the Hat is only a $5.00 charge per person. This kicked off on the Carnival Splendor, but it will be across the fleet eventually. We have found the upcharge prices on Carnival Cruise meals very reasonable. Guests can meet Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2, and other Dr. Seuss favorites while enjoying items like funky French toast and Green Eggs and Ham! Those wanting standard breakfast fare can enjoy that too. This is something we hope to try in the future! And Seuss-a-Palooza is an interactive reading event for kids. If you are planning to sail Carnival, keep an eye out on when Seuss at Sea will be available on your intended ship.

Bookville should be a great experience for kids!

Carnival Freedom and Carnival Vista will have this dedicated Bookville area (below), and all ships will have Camp Ocean by 2016. Other ships in the Carnival fleet will have pop-up Dr. Seuss locations. Camp Ocean looks like it will be absolutely stunning! Carnival Freedom will be the first ship to include Camp Ocean following refurbishment in May 2014, and it will encompass ages 2-11. This marine-themed area will have more than 200 ocean-inspired activities. It is only weeks away until the Carnival Freedom has both Bookville and Camp Ocean.

We are excited about kids and family programming coming to Carnival Cruise Line. We also think the Hasbro partnership is a great one! Jeff caught this photo of Mr. Potato Head on the Carnival Sunshine, and we actually saw Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head meeting guests coming off a Carnival ship while we were in port earlier this year on a different cruise line.

Here is the entire press release on Camp Ocean.
