Disney-Pixar “Coco” Concept Art and Maquettes in Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Photos, Video)
Hi everyone!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is showing a preview of Disney-Pixar’s upcoming Coco through November 29th in Walt Disney Presents. The animated film arrives in theaters November 22nd, 2017! Along with the preview, there is a nice selection of artwork, similar to what you’d find previously in the former Magic of Disney Animation building (that location is now Star Wars Launch Bay). We photographed the various artwork items for years, and now the Walt Disney Presents building tends to showcase animated film concept art and maquettes (we have the Cars 3 display here from May).
The Coco display has no information about any of the artwork. I have posted a number of articles that have had to do with Coco – a couple of book reviews – The Art of Coco and the Coco Read-Along Storybook and CD and then an article about the “Remember Me” exhibit at Epcot. We will have a correspondent at the Coco Hollywood press conference in a couple of days! While I have a familiarity with some of the characters and story, I don’t know enough to label everything so I will present the artwork as Disney does – without text. There are some nice maquettes that include Miguel with Dante, along with artwork of all the characters. Coco is inspired by the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
Here is our video of the artwork, and then take a look around in photos!
We look forward to reviewing the film next week!
