Epcot France Expansion Construction Update Including Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (Before Park Closure) – March 2020
Hi everyone –
Last week, we took photos and video of the Epcot France pavilion expansion before the Walt Disney World parks closed (the last day open before the temporary closure was Sunday, March 15th, 2020). We rode the Disney Skyliner each way, which allowed us to see the new Ratatouille details on the fountain. While the signs say “Summer 2020” for opening, we don’t know if Disney will be continuing construction at all while the closure for COVID-19 is happening. The current rumors are now that they won’t be, but the parks have only been closed a day and a half now so we don’t know what will happen in the coming months. And while Disney currently says that the parks will be closed through the end of the month, we may be looking at two or more months. While it is disappointing, it is important that we all stay healthy and that includes those who work on the parks. We do plan to keep posting articles and videos each day from recent visits to the parks and resorts as well as book and movie reviews, etc. while at home.
Here are photos and video from the last day we took photos of the France expansion.

Here is our video of the Epcot France pavilion expansion on the last day we rode past it.
A week or so ago, this Ratatouille opening date banner was added to the new archway in France.
The next photo is from the ground. The expansion here is really close to finished. Until recently I was thinking we might see a late May opening.
Besides Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, there will be a table service and counter service creperie called La Crêperie de Paris.
You can see how far along this area has come recently.
There will be new restrooms.
The first direction yielded few photos due to glare, but we stopped at Disney’s Art of Animation and came back a bit later.
This expansion has been one of the things I’ve been looking forward to most at Walt Disney World.
The first banner says “Opening Summer 2020”.
The Walt Disney Skyliner has also become one of my favorite additions to Walt Disney World property in recent years, and one bonus is allowing for nice views of the project.
More photos show the construction in the pavilion.
More details have been added to the Remy fountain, including a small Remy on top and champagne bottles and Remy faces on the fountain.
Here are more photos looking down into the expansion.
I don’t know when we will have another update on the France expansion, but hopefully late by spring/early summer. It is hard not being at the parks at this beautiful time of year, but hopefully we can all stay healthy to enjoy them when they do reopen.
