Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort to Offer Modified Character Dining Experience

Walt Disney World is not offering character meals when it reopens soon except for one, a modified experience at Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera at Disney’s Riviera Resort. This is actually my favorite character meal currently and I’ve said over the last month that it would be a very good model for what a character meal could be while we are still dealing with COVID-19. The tables are already fairly spaced out, there are wide aisles and much of the character experience has been Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy dancing around the room – there wouldn’t be meets now. The restaurant also has a beautiful terrace. I don’t know if the menu will change or what the modifications will all be (will the characters still move about the room?). Masks will be required in public areas including arriving and leaving dining areas for ages 2+. I have more information on general dining at the end of the article.

Topolino’s Terrace is a newer character breakfast, it was only available for a few months before the parks and resorts closed. We went twice. A confirmed dining reservation will be required for day guests (those not staying overnight) and is highly recommended for guests staying overnight at a Disney Resort hotel. Reservations are not yet open but should be soon. Disney’s Riviera Resort opens on June 22nd, 2020 before the parks. Due to Topolino’s Terrace being a Signature restaurant at night, the tables are more spread out than they are in many restaurants.

I don’t know if the menu will be different yet. I’m sharing a few photos of what we’ve had on our visits. The basket of pastries was delicious and presented in a way that reminds me of Artist’s Palate on the Disney Cruise Line.

The food is served plated. It is also very good.

I ordered the waffles twice, Jeff ordered the steak both times.

One of our visits was as part of a group, and Daisy came to our room in the restaurant.

The terrace is lovely and offers terrific views.

There is a patio with seating.

Views include Tower of Terror, Epcot and the Disney Skyliner.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is also in view. Disney’s Riviera Resort was built in a location that used to be part of the Caribbean Beach.

We are going out quite a bit now but not yet dining inside of restaurants. Having Topolino’s Terrace open would be tempting though.

• Dinner shows will not be offered during the initial reopening.
• Dining locations will be limited in capacity. Some locations will remain temporarily closed.
• Private dining and in-room delivery will not be offered during the initial reopening window.
• Mobile order service will be offered at select quick-service dining locations throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks (when open), Disney Springs and select Disney Resort hotels.
• • All pre-paid dining and experience reservations impacted by the closure will be automatically refunded.
  • Reservations made at locations impacted by the closure will not be charged a cancellation or no-show fee.
  • We have made the difficult decision to cancel and temporarily no longer offer Disney dining plans. If you have an existing Resort package with a Disney dining plan, we will update your reservation to reflect the removal of the dining plan from your package. The package price will be adjusted accordingly. You will receive a refund if you have already paid in full or a reduction in amount due if you have not yet made final payment
