Book Review: “Cooking with Deadpool“ from Insight Editions

Hi everyone!

I was sent  “Marvel Comics: Cooking with Deadpool“ to review.  The cookbook releases tomorrow, February 2nd, 2021. I have not seen the movies and so my familiarity with the character is limited.  That said, I do like to cook and Cooking with Deadpool ended up being my favorite Insight Editions cookbook (by far) so far when it comes to the recipes themselves. The book is written by Marc Sumerak and recipes from Elena P. Craig.

Cooking with Deadpool  includes real tips but done in the theme of Deadpool. Plus there are over 60 recipes that range from very easy to more advanced. Ingredients for what I made were easily accessed at the grocery store (which is not always the case with cookbooks).

This gives you an idea of what some of the pages look like. Recipes include Spatchcocked Chicken, Mole Chicken, “Crepes of Wrath”, an All-American Burger and more.

I made the Cable’s Cuisine: Spaghetti, which is a delicious pasta recipe and I will use it again. I followed the recipe as is but next time would add some mushrooms and green peppers. I also made Cable’s Cuisine: Beef Stew and that is a recipe I’ll repeat in the future.

When I received Cooking with Deadpool to review, I thought I would try a couple of recipes and pass the book along. Instead, I’m keeping it. I have other recipes I want to try and I really like the two dishes I’ve already made. So if you know any fans of Marvel’s Deadpool who like to cook, I recommend Cooking with Deadpool as a gift or for yourself.

From Insight Editions:

Deadpool brings his inimitable style, foul-mouthed humor, and notorious skill with a blade to the kitchen in this hilarious take on a traditional cookbook, featuring classic recipes with a Deadpool spin and a whole lotta chimichangas.

No super hero takes food quite as seriously as Deadpool. In this gorgeously designed cookbook that paid reviewers have described as “glorious” and “the best cookbook I’ve ever read,” Deadpool offers his take on a curated collection of epicurean classics. Narrated by the wisecracking super hero (and sexy master chef) himself, this book also incudes recipes inspired by some of his closest friends/enemies (Here’s lookin’ at you, Spidey) and his favorite meals, including chimichangas, tacos, pancakes, and hamburgers with no pickles.

This comprehensive culinary guide is complete with recipe modification suggestions, illustrations, and mouthwatering full-color photography. This is the ultimate gift for seasoned cooks and Marvel fans alike!
