Book Review: “Luca” Read-Along Storybook and CD

Hi everyone!

I purchased the “Luca” Read-Along Storybook and CD to review, it released earlier this month. The “Luca” Read-Along Storybook and CD includes a 32-page small, softcover book and an abbreviated retelling of the Disney and Pixar film’s story on CD. The narration lasts about 20 minutes. These book and CD sets are always complete spoilers to the movies, so I recommend waiting until after viewing the film to read if that matters to you. “Luca” will begin streaming on Disney+ June 18th, 2021.

Disney Press says about the book and CD, Experience the magic and adventure of Luca with this book-and-CD set, featuring thrilling sound effects, word-for-word narration, and original character voices from the film.

The CD features real voice actors from the movie, including Jacob Tremblay as Luca. The narration is by Edoardo Ballerini, who is an actor and award-winning and prolific audiobook narrator. We’ve been learning more about “Luca” in trailers and information from Disney and Pixar, and the book shares even more about this unique story of friendship told in a gorgeous Italian setting. “Luca” Read-Along Storybook and CD is geared toward young kids, but it can be entertaining for older kids (and adults) as well. The set is a great way to relive the movie.

From Disney about the film: Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, Disney and Pixar’s original feature film “Luca” is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca (voice of Jacob Tremblay) shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, Alberto (voice of Jack Dylan Grazer), but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface.
