Show Director Matthieu Robin Talks “Dream…and Shine Brighter!” and the Disneyland Paris 30th Theme Song

Hi everyone!

The 30th Anniversary of Disneyland Paris celebration kicked off on March 6th, and we had the opportunity to interview a number of the event creators at that time. This is another in a series of articles from those interviews. We were part of a roundtable that included Matthieu Robin, who was a director of the show “Dream…and Shine Brighter!”. He gave us more insight into “Dream…and Shine Brighter” and the anthem “Un Monde Qui S’Illumine” (I added the lyrics at the end of the article).

“Dream and Shine…Brighter!” is a happy show. Robin says, “It’s full of colors, it’s full of energy”. There are over 30 performers onstage, including Disney and Pixar characters and twelve dancers. Some of the characters are rare for Disneyland Paris. Miguel made his Disneyland Paris debut in “Dream…and Shine Brighter!”.

Gomez had told us previously that the performers could wear the costumes as they wanted (the costumes were made for all) and the same with their hair and makeup. Robin said that “It’s their personalities that have been taken into account” and they wanted the show to reflect that.

Robin talked about one of the two main songs, “Un Monde Qui S’Illumine”, which is the theme song for the 30th Anniversary. “It’s really a song about what we had for the last two years…we just wanted to be happy again”. He called it a metaphor of “being together, having hope, having faith.”. The three main themes are dream, laugh and love. Robin said that these “are the ingredients for us to illuminate the world”. That includes inviting guests to open their hearts and to believe in their dreams. “That’s what makes a Disney story. These three ingredients are in almost all the Disney and Pixar stories we know”. He said it’s also something we can have in real life – being optimistic, kind, and having self confidence.

Here is one of our videos of “Dream…and Shine Brighter!”. The song “Un Monde Qui S’Illumine” is the one Robin talked about and can be heard throughout the celebration, not just in the show. The wonderful song “Ready for the Ride” is the song that dancers perform to during the cavalcade to and from Central Plaza and one of the songs they perform onstage to. There is also a mashup of over 20 Disney songs onstage.

Here are the lyrics to “Un Monde Qui S’Illumine”.

Look to the sky, hope is all around
And it’s about to ignite
It’s looking bright, go on let it out
The spark you’re feeling inside

We’re gonna dream a little bigger
Laugh a little harder
Sing a little louder now
We’re gonna dance a little bolder
Love a little better
Take my hand, I’ll show you how
The future holds so much more
Than we’ve ever seen before
There’s something so magical
Shining from our dreams
Un monde qui s’illumine
Whoa, whoa
Un monde qui s’illumine
Whoa, whoa
Un monde qui s’illumine
Go make a wish if you see a star
And we can watch how it grows
Let’s reminisce how we’ve come so far
And see how far we can go
We’re gonna dream a little bigger
Laugh a little harder
Sing a little louder now
We’re gonna dance a little bolder
Love a little better
Take my hand, I’ll show you how
The future holds so much more
Than we’ve ever seen before
There’s something so magical
Shining from our dreams
Un monde qui s’illumine
Whoa, whoa
Un monde qui s’illumine
Whoa, whoah
Un monde qui s’illumine
It’s a brand new day
New in every way
Let the good times roll
It’s a brand new start
Open up your heart
Let it move your soul
The future holds so much more
Than we’ve ever seen before
There’s something so magical
Shining from our dreams
Un monde qui s’illumine
Whoa, whoa
Un monde qui s’illumine
Whoa, whoa
Un monde qui s’illumine
Whoa, whoa
Un monde qui s’illumine
Whoa, whoa
Un monde qui s’illumine
