“Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Musical Adventure” Photos and Video from 1996 at Disney-MGM Studios
“The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Musical Adventure” was a show that debuted at the former Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios) back in 1996 and ran through September 28th, 2002. The show was located at the former Backlot Theater, which was not yet enclosed. Jeff has shared photos and a full video of the popular show from his extensive archives, he photographed the shows sometime during the opening week.
First, here is our video of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Musical Adventure”.
Prior to the show, there was a juggler named Matt who performed. Our video doesn’t include the preshow.
The half hour show told the story of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and featured characters including Quasimodo, Esmeralda, Frollo, and Phoebus. Songs in the lively musical production included “Topsy Turvy” and “Out There”.
Here are more photos from Jeff of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Musical Adventure”. I will add more text to this article in the coming days when I have a chance to do so.
It is hard to believe, but I don’t think I personally saw the show during its run (I don’t know how I missed it). Thanks to Jeff, I am able to enjoy the show now.
Jeff would take 50 rolls of film during each Walt Disney World trip in the 1990s and until he bought a digital camera (he also has pre-1990s photos). In addition, he recorded a lot. I expect we will be posting vintage content along with current content for the next few months, until Halloween kicks off and then it will be a little less often through January.
