6/3 Wet ‘n Wild Orlando Opens Blastaway Beach – New Family Fun Area

Hi everyone!

Blastaway Beach at Wet 'n Wild Orlando opened to the public yesterday with a special ceremony. Fifty elementary school students had created artwork representing the new attraction, and were invited to enjoy the sandcastle themed water playground. Spanning over an acre, and including 15 slides and 160 soakers, jets, waterfalls and water cannons, Blastaway Beach is expected to be the largest water playground of it's kind in Florida.

We have a video I took of the short ceremony, which culminated in the kids running to Blastaway Beach! The video also includes footage of the new area.

There are slides of different sizes for kids of all ages, and I was told the slides were a bit wider than normal to allow for parents to be with their children. Another great benefit of this area is that there is only one exit – a lot easier for parents to see their kids heading in and out of the water playground!

The kids who entered the contest showed a lot of creativity and talent:

Wet 'n Wild was the world's first waterpark (recognized by the World Waterpark Association), and has been operating since 1977. Over 15 themed rides and attractions are offered, with the newest being the family-friendly Blastaway Beach.

I took a photo of the surf pool on the way out – it looks like fun! We hope to get back there in the near future for more photos (and video on the slides).
