Book Review: “Haunted Mansion” Little Golden Book Perfectly Captures Disneyland Version of Ride

The Haunted Mansion Little Golden Book released yesterday in both hardcover and Kindle formats. The book perfectly captures the popular Disneyland version of the ride! The Haunted Mansion Little Golden Book is adapted illustrated beautifully by Glen Brogan. Here is my review.
The teenager in the book is dared to go into the Haunted Mansion alone. First stop? Stretching room. And the pages go through the greatest hits of the Haunted Mansion – the hallway gallery, boarding a Doom Buggy, Madame Leota, the ballroom scene, attic, Hatbox ghost (and more). The graveyard scenes include the caretaker and Phantom Five. And of course, the Hitchhiking Ghosts make an appearance.
Haunted Mansion fans will enjoy not only the illustrations but that the 24-page book packs a lot of the Haunted Mansion into it. The premise is the teenager is dared to go in by friends, “pushes the creaky front door open” and then seems to be mostly alone except for the boarding of the doom buggy. There are many familiar Haunted Mansion phrases through the Haunted Mansion Little Golden Book, like “We find it delightfully unlivable here in this ghostly retreat. Every room has wall-to-wall creeps”. It actually makes me want to head to the Haunted Mansion now. This is really a terrific book for anyone who is a fan of the attraction, and I think the best of the three Little Golden Book Disney attraction books from this year (it’s a small world and Jungle Cruise are the other two) – they are all worth purchasing, but this really nails the attraction.
There is information from the publisher below on Haunted Mansion Little Golden Book – disregard the part saying that this will be released in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. While technically true, this is based on the Disneyland version, which has some differences to our Walt Disney World Haunted Mansion.
