Orlando Slingshot and Orlando Free Fall Scheduled to Open in December at ICON Park

The Orlando Slingshot and the Orlando Free Fall are scheduled to open at Orlando’s Icon Park in December. The Orlando Slingshot will stand at 300 feet tall, making it the world’s tallest slingshot. Read below for more information on each, including a construction photo provided to us.

Two world-record-setting attractions are on schedule to open in Orlando’s ICON Park this December. The foundation has been poured and the massive ride elements have begun to go vertical for the Orlando Slingshot™ and Orlando Free Fall™ at ICON Park. Both attractions are set to open just in time for the winter holidays, adding a whole new level of thrills for vacationers. “The Orlando Slingshot™ and Orlando Free Fall™ are joining their sister attraction the Orlando StarFlyer™, the world’s tallest stand-alone swing ride, to make ICON Park the ‘Land of the Giants’,” said Ritchie Armstrong, owner of Slingshot Group of Companies™. “We’re excited to introduce these towering attractions to Central Florida and make the holiday season more exciting than ever.

” The Orlando Slingshot™ at ICON Park will stand at 300 feet, making it the world’s tallest slingshot. The two-tower attraction will launch two riders out of an “exploding volcano” approximately 450 feet straight up into the sky, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph. The Orlando Free Fall™ at ICON Park will stand at 430 feet, making it the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower. Thirty riders will be able to embrace the beautiful sites of ICON Park and I-Drive as the ride vehicle rotates around the gigantic tower and rises high into the skyline. Once the ride vehicle reaches the top, it’ll tilt forward 30 degrees and face the ground for a brief moment before free falling nearly 400 feet at speeds reaching over 75 mph.

The Orlando Slingshot™ and Orlando Free Fall™ are owned and operated by the Slingshot Group of Companies™. Keator Construction, LLC is the general contractor responsible for building these landmark attractions. The manufacturer of the rides is Funtime.
