Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort’s Food & Wine Classic Adding Hawaii Luau Themed Area “The Pig and the Poke” for 2018

Hi everyone!

It is hard to believe that the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort’s 2018 Food & Wine Classic is now 5 months away, the year is moving quickly! This is my favorite foodie event each year, with a wonderful variety of food items to sample from the two hotels, including Shula’s and Todd English’s bluezoo – plus a lot of wine and beer samples and more. In the last few years, the event has been adding more themed areas, including Chinatown, Carnival Corner and The Bubble Lounge. New for 2018 is a new area called The Pig and The Poke, featuring Hawaiian decor and food favorites. The press release is below.  One of my favorite aspects of the event is that the detailed menus go up really early for planning, you can see the menus here for the event for both Friday and Saturday nights in addition to The Pig and The Poke! Buy tickets early, this event does sell out and is held rain or shine (it is held inside if it rains). Read below for more information!

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – May 9, 2018 – An all-new Hawaiian luau themed area will debut at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort’s 2018 Food & Wine Classic on Oct. 26 – Oct. 28, taking guests on a culinary journey to the Pacific from the resort’s private beach.

The new area, named The Pig and The Poke, will feature Hawaiian décor along with several food favorites of the island state including:

  • Traditional Earth Baked Kalua Pork with steamed white rice, barrel aged tamari and Napa cabbage
  • Tuna Poke featuring Hawaiian yellowfin tuna, sushi rice, avocado relish and crispy fried wontons
  • Finely Shaved Ice in a variety of tropical flavors: guava, pineapple, coconut cream, passion fruit, lychee, kiwi and mango

Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort Executive Chef Robert Ciborowski drew upon his years of living and working in Kapalua, Hawaii as inspiration for the dishes.

The Pig and The Poke will join the event’s returning themed areas which offer specialty cuisine in immersive atmospheres: Carnival Corner, Chinatown, Bubble Lounge and a Beer Garden.  Access to The Pig and Poke is included in the standard ticket price.
