Flower Quilt Installed in Preparation for Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival 2019

Hi everyone!

The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival officially begins on March 6th, 2019, but living in Central Florida allows for the ability to watch the event come to life in the weeks leading up to it. The main flower quilt is always installed a few weeks prior to the festival, and we’ll see topiaries and other elements arriving soon. This is my favorite time of year, and I am looking forward to new additions and old favorites. The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is starting later this year than last, about a week later than the 2018 February 28th kickoff.

The design of this flower quilt is always a little different, for example one year there was a nautical flag design. I plan to write up a little history of the festival at some point now that I will have 13 years of following it closely in photos (of what will be 26 years for the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival this year). New this year will be Bo Peep and her sheep as part of a Toy Story 4 display.

Here are photos from yesterday!

There are several Mickey heads in the flowers and those will be even more evident as the flowers fill in.

Looking toward Imagination and The Land.

One of the Mickey heads close up.

In the distance, the butterfly tent is also being constructed. For years it had been over where the second flower quilt is placed, but this has been a better location for it – the butterfly tent is bigger now.

Monorail yellow passes over the quilt.

The Imagination walkway is a great place to see the flowers from, with the smell of roses and a view of Spaceship Earth.

Here is one last look at the roses, monorail and quilt.

I will be sharing more of the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival as it takes shape over the next few weeks, and then will share more photos and tips after opening day!
