Review: Space 220 Restaurant at EPCOT with New Menu Items (May 2023)

Hi everyone!

We were invited to Space 220 Restaurant at EPCOT to try some of the new dishes and drinks that are now on the menu. Space 220 has been one of the most popular restaurants at Walt Disney World since it opened in September 2021, with a wonderfully themed location as well as delicious food.

Here is a look at our experience!

Space 220 is open for both lunch and dinner. The two course lunch is $55 per person plus tax and tip, and $79 per person for a three course dinner plus tax and tip. There are also upgrades that can be added for an additional charge. The menu offers a nice selection with something for almost everyone.

We entered the restaurant and received our Space Elevator Boarding Pass.

If you are unable to find a reservation for Space 220 (and that is often the case), there is also a lounge that you can wait for. The line for the Space 220 lounge was not long on this particular day and you can order off the lounge menu or regular menu.

Here is a look at the Space 220 Space Elevator Boarding Pass.

The Space Elevator takes guests on a simulated 220 mile journey up to the Centauri Space Station.

The elevator always reminds me of the former Mission to Mars that attraction was at the Magic Kingdom through the early 90s.

What a view! I always enjoy walking through the restaurant.

We were seated next to a window, which I personally prefer – but I don’t think there is a bad view in the restaurant. The last time we were here, we sat in or near the lounge area and had a more panoramic view.

You can ask for a paper menu, or use the QR code that is on the table.

Not only was the food menu refreshed, but the drink menu was as completely changed.

I ordered the Illumination with Bacardi, Malibu, passion fruit, blood orange, pineapple, lime sour, and passion fruit boba. I like a rum drink, and this fit the bill. There were a lot of boba pearls in it, so after finishing the drink, I still enjoyed those.

Jeff ordered the Saturn 2.0 with Bacardi 8, Velvet falernum, orgeat, passion fruit and lemon juice. He had asked for the drink that was most like a tiki drink, and this was it. The star on top finishes it off nicely.

It was still daylight looking out the window. That does change later.

New on the menu is the Seafood Cannelloni “Rockets” with shrimp, scallops, snapper, saffron cream sauce, salmon caviar and chives. Many of the new menu items are seafood, which I don’t eat – but I asked Jeff what seafood he tasted most in it. He said that it was a nice mix of all, not with one seafood item that stood out.

Jeff would order this dish again, he really enjoyed it.

My appetizer and entree ordered are not new. I chose the Centauri Caesar Salad with miniature romaine, classic Caesar dressing, parmigiano reggiano, and a crouton crumble. It is a solid Caesar salad.

For dinner, Jeff chose the new Tomahawk Pork Chop. This is a slow roasted 16-oz Niman Ranch pork chop, corn flan, succotash, with spiced applesauce. The pork chop was juicy and the corn flan has a kick to it – I believe there is a cayenne pepper glaze. I don’t eat a lot of pork but ate about half of the flan.

The pork chop is big and a very nice addition to the menu.

I ordered an item that has been on the menu already, an 8oz Filet Mignon with Certified Angus Beef, creamy mashed potatoes, haricot vert (green beans) and a red wine reduction. There were also a couple of carrots. The meat was tender and went nicely with the mashed potatoes. The dishes are always beautifully presented as well.

Two astronauts float by.

We ordered two more of the new drinks. The first was the Command Center with Hendricks gin, St Germain elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, and citrus elderflower foam. This was a lovely, light drink (though my preference is always going to lean toward rum). Jeff ordered the M4RG4R1TA with Espolon blanco tequila, watermelon, lime sour and a salted lime foam.

For dessert, Jeff ordered the Chocolate and Raspberry Cake with a raspberry chocolate crémeux, raspberry marmalade, dark chocolate ganache and a cocoa nib glaze. This has a very nice chocolate flavor and has been on the menu.

We both unexpectedly preferred the new dessert on the menu – the Vanilla Bean Greek Yogurt Parfait. It has black sesame crumble, yuzu curd, macerated blackberries and a basil blackberry sauce. I would never order this dessert based off the name alone. It was absolutely delicious, and didn’t remind me of yogurt. The blackberry balances it nicely. If it is still on the menu during our next visit, this would be my dessert of choice.

Out the windows, it had become nighttime during our meal.

Two astronauts can be seen while I took a photo of Jeff in the dining room.

Space 220 continues to impress at EPCOT and is a unique experience you can’t find anywhere else.

Thank you to Patina for inviting us. They covered our meal, we covered our gratuity and we’ll be back next on our own. All views are ours.
