2/24 Bill Nye the Science Guy, Epcot Flower and Garden New Topiaries, Haunted Mansion Changes

Hi everyone!

We had a great day yesterday at Epcot, starting with the Bill Nye presentation.  Nye was hosting 4 shows as part of National Engineer's Week (they were the same demonstrations, although audience questions were different each time).  We enjoyed the new topiaries around Epcot and then headed to the Magic Kingdom to check out the Haunted Mansion changes!

I will have full coverage of the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival once it begins – so keep checking back to Mousesteps!

The legs on Spaceship Earth are now done being painted:

Bill Nye the Science Guy was at Epcot for one day, and we attended 2 of the 4 shows.  There were maybe 100 – 150 guests at each presentation.  We have video of Bill Nye here!

Brad from Disney introduced Bill Nye:

Bill Nye and Rob from Underwriters Laboratory set out to show how wood is turned to gas before burning.  First, Bill Nye brought up a young guest to talk about the fire triangle (in the second show, the guest was 18 to 20 years old, not a child). There was an issue with the air conditioning blowing out the flame when they got to the demonstration, but eventually they were able to get it lit:

The line for Bill Nye after the demonstration was always longer than Bill Nye had time for (about 10 minutes after each show was dedicated to autographs). He signed a nice photograph of himself:
