10/3 40th Anniversary of the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World – Photos and Report

This Saturday marked the 40th Anniversary of the Magic Kingdom, and the Walt Disney World resort as a whole. We had a great time celebrating with friends throughout the day.

Before I start with the photos, I do want to say that I found the day a mixed bag as far as what Disney prepared for the 40th. It's been 15 years since we've had a great parade in the Magic Kingdom (Remember the Magic) and it'd have been nice to have one finally for the 40th! My first visit was in 1976, and I've enjoyed the birthday celebrations throughout the years.

There was a banner on the Magic Kingdom Train Station:

We received this map and button – the map is my favorite souvenir from the event, with history and even the Orange Bird! We have met the designer of the map, and I thanked her for creating such a wonderful keepsake.

We enjoyed a morning walk along Main Street before the crowds entered – there was a banner on Cinderella Castle that was a backdrop to the event:

There were thousands of guests there to celebrate the Magic Kingdom's 40th, and we made our way to the spot we took photos and video from.
