Nickelodeon Suites Resort Embraces Turtle Power w/Summer of Shell Offerings! Photos, Video from Retro Weekend w/Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Voices

Hi everyone!

It’s the “Summer of Shell” at Nickelodeon Suites Resort as they embrace ‘Turtle Power’! We were invited to experience Retro Weekend, which included interviewing the four voices behind the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The weather didn’t cooperate to see the entire Turtle Power poolside show, but we have a video of the abbreviated version below. Plus we met April O’Neil and all of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Guests at Nickelodeon Suites Resort can purchase a “Summer of Shell” package and merchandise. There is also a character dinner with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles available (all activities and meals are for overnight guests of the resort only).

We had a great time meeting April O’Neil and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! April O’Neil is the first face character to have a meet and greet at Nickelodeon Suites Resort.

Here is our meet & greet video with April O’Neil and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Our favorite part of the event was interviewing the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rob Paulsen, Townsend Coleman, Barry Gordon and Cam Clarke. They all are longtime working voice actors (though Gordon has also been in front of the camera on many occasions, including on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Archie Bunker’s Place). Gordon was a child actor who even sang “I’m Getting Nuttin’ For Christmas”! But for all 4 of these actors say that that Teenage Mutant Turtles is a career highlight for them due to the longevity (10 years) of the show as well as the iconic status – they are still in demand nearly 30 years after the show began. Paulsen said about the length of the show, “That’s an eternity in show business. If you get a regular job for a couple of years, you’re lucky”. I also asked him about playing Toodles on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and he turned it around and exclaimed, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Toodles”! You can see our 4 minute interview below.

Honestly, 4 minutes is not nearly enough with these four actors – I recommend watching the panel discussion below. They clearly enjoy their time together, and it was like watching a standup comedy act with questions and answers thrown in for good measure. Coleman and Paulsen met on the set of Fraggle Rock! And each of these actors has worked consistently through the years. Cam Clarke is known for Monster High and Paulsen has been featured in the Tinker Bell fairy movies, including The Pirate Fairy (a film I recommend). And did you know that Gordon was the voice of the Quick bunny? He showcases that voice here as well.

Here is the entire 30 minute panel with questions and answers!

The Summer of Shell continued with a showcase of the Turtle Power poolside show – sans pool, due to weather. It was a shorter version of the popular show.

Here is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtle Power Show with April O’Neil. If you are staying at Nickelodeon Suites this summer, check the schedule for time (we were told this show is usually closer to 15 minutes in length).

There are also 10 suites that currently have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a theme! These are newly designed, and can’t be requested ahead at this time (ask for availability at the front desk).
