MouseSteps Weekly #133 Carnival Freedom Cruise Overview Tour w/ Seuss at Sea; Dining; Pools; Ports

Hi everyone!

In Mousesteps Weekly #133, we talk all about our Carnival Freedom Cruise. The ship has now left Fort Lauderdale for Galveston, TX – we were happy to enjoy 7 nights on it before it left. We talk about Seuss at Sea; dining including the SeaDay Brunch and Afternoon Tea (and of course, Guy’s Burger Joint!); ports that include San Juan and St. Maarten; and recreation that includes pools and a water slide. Our show is from January 28th, 2015. Watch it and then read further for more information and links to articles and videos!

In Mousesteps Weekly #133, we talk all about the Carnival Freedom cruise we took last week!

We begin the show with our last day at sea, dining at the Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast with The Cat in the Hat and Friends. This is our favorite character meal ever! The decor and food are whimsical, and The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2, and Sam I Am were popular with guests. The breakfast currently costs $5.00 per guest.

Next, we take a look at Bookville, which is a dedicated reading and playing area that is Dr. Seuss themed. Families can enjoy a seating area and sit down with their favorite Dr. Seuss book.

We stopped at 3 ports during our Carnival Freedom cruise, beginning with Grand Turk. This small island is perfect for relaxing, with free beach chairs, pool, and a swim-up bar at Margaritaville.

Our next port is San Juan, where we take a look at the iguanas that roam the island and enjoyed a walking tour for several hours. The tour ended at Castillo San Cristobal, with a beautiful view of the city. The Disney Fantasy is also in port that day.

Our last port was St. Maarten, where we took a boat cruise for our shore excursion. One of the sights pointed out to us was Steve Jobs yacht.

Back on the Carnival Freedom, we share some of the dining. Even in 7 days, we didn’t do everything – but close. We take a look in the RedFrog pub, which is a Caribbean themed bar. This is part of the Carnival 2.0 additions. Then we head to the buffet, including the chocolate buffet on the last day that included a chocolate fountain!

The Fish & Chips restaurant is one floor up, and not to be missed. Guests can enjoy a variety of fried and healthy seafood options here.

At the pool area, Jeff took a ride on the Twister slide.

We take a quick look at our stateroom before heading to SeaDay Brunch.

Two of the highlights on the cruise are the SeaDay Brunch and the Afternoon Tea. Both occur on sea days only. We take a look at each, and neither should be missed!

Our food tour continues in the main dining room, where Jeff tried a couple of new “Didja” items during the cruise, including frogs legs.

One of our meals was in the Sun King Steakhouse, which is an upcharge restaurant (which we felt was very worth doing). The steak and lobster were excellent. The steakhouse currently costs $35.00 per guest.

Wee Jimmy was the cruise director, and he hosted some of the shows – he is fantastic!

The cruise was over all too soon, and we were back at Port Everglades with other cruise ships that had arrived that morning. Debarkation was the smoothest we’ve ever had on a ship, we waited near the pool for our number to be called.

Carnival did cover our cruise fare, we paid for parking, gratuities, shore excursions and incidentals. All the views are ours. Carnival exceeded our expectations in almost every way!
