Marvel Summer of Super Heroes Kicks off at Disneyland Paris: Runs Through September 30th, 2018

Hi everyone!

Marvel Summer of Super Heroes has begun at Disneyland Paris. We were there for the kickoff and then for some of the first official day. Marvel Summer of Super Heroes runs through  September 30th, 2018 – the day before the Halloween season begins. I am glad we were able to span several events through out trip, beginning with the surprisingly fantastic Festival of Pirates and Princesses and ending with Marvel Summer of Super Heroes. And with still a couple days of our trip left, this article will be a work in progress this week – I will add more over the coming days.

Here is a look at much of what we have experienced for Marvel Summer of Super Heroes over the last few days.

The Production Courtyard has three giant statues – Black Panther, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. These were installed last week and have been very popular with guests for photos.

Themed food items were added at the time the statues appeared, and these can be found around the Production Courtyard and Disney Studio 1 primarily. We have tried some of the sweeter items, with my favorite so far being the Groot shortbread with chocolate hazelnut filling. The themed beignets are good too, the cupcakes for me are just so-so.  A very popular item has been the Marvel burger in Restaurant En Coulisse, it has been a huge hit with everyone we know that has tried it (and I am sure I will soon). The Groot bread has also been well received.

There are two shows and then a Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Dance-Off in the Production Courtyard. The first show is Marvel: Super Heroes United. I was focused on photographing the show we saw so I won’t review the show itself (some of the effects also weren’t working in the show I did watch). But here is the information on it, and then our video. The show is heavy on stunts, as is Stark Expo presents: Energy for Tomorrow!, which is played outside.

From Disney: Immerse in the origins of greatness with this never-seen-before show super-charged with live Characters and ground-smashing, heroic special effects. Feel your Spider-Sense tingle as Marvel legends Iron Man and Captain America battle each other before uniting with Spider-Man and Black Widow to bring down the baddest supervillain of them all, Thanos. With thrilling flashbacks showing how each hero discovered their powers, this is an experience you don’t want to miss.

Here is our video, along with a few photos. The show features a lot of favorite Marvel characters, including Black Panther, Black Widow, Spider-Man and Iron Man.

Stark Expo presents: Energy for Tomorrow! is next. The show reminds me a lot of Marvel Universe Live! with quite a few stunts. Black Widow, Spider-Man, Loki and Thor are the stars of this one. It is an easy show to watch, on a raised stage in the Production Courtyard (unlike the Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Dance-Off).
From Disney: Swoop into the middle of the mayhem with this electrifying extravaganza buzzing with live Marvel Super Heroes. Gaze in awe as The Avengers, including Thor and Black Widow, fight a colossal clash with Asgard’s evil second prince, Loki.
Here is our video of the show.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Dance-Off is similar to what you will find in the United States, with some different songs and not exactly the same “storyline” but it has a similar feel to it, with Star-Lord and Gamora. This has already become a guest favorite, with a lot of interactivity.  Before this trip, I often heard that guests wouldn’t likely dance. Dance parties aren’t a thing at Disneyland Paris like they are in the United States. But between the Festival of Pirates and Princesses and the Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Dance-Off, I have seen as much dancing as I have at any other Disney park. I expect more of this type of entertainment in the future.

We have been experiencing the Marvel Signature Package as well, including the Marvel dinner and the Spider-Man meet and greet. I will write more about both soon here, but here is our video of the Spider-Man meet and greet. If I have any more videos to add, I will – and within a few days I will give some thoughts on the Marvel Signature Package and anything else we try while here.
My recommendation is to wait until the end of September if you can, and enjoy both the end of the Marvel season and then the beginning of Halloween. Disneyland Paris has a lot of great events throughout the year, so catching more than one is something I am especially happy to do while here.
