Our Experience at Oogie Boogie Bash from the First Night at Disney California Adventure

Hi everyone!

We attended the first Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure this year and I wanted to share some of that experience in photos and video. The character interactions were incredible and it was the first full parade I’ve seen since March 2020. There were some unique character debuts with the party – Agatha Harkness from WandaVision, Sid from Toy Story and the live-action Cruella De Vil. Here is a look at our experience from yesterday! We will have more videos to add in the coming days.

We will also have individual articles and our Mousesteps Weekly YouTube Show all about our experience in the coming week.

The one real blip we had was that it took 80 minutes from the time we entered this line to the time we received our wristband. The line was long but it wasn’t *that* long. Other guests got through quicker.

The treat bag is the same as in Florida, with Muppets Haunted Mansion and Encanto featured.

Lines were short. This was before 7:00 p.m., Guardians of the Galaxy Monsters After Dark with a 10 minute or less wait. WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure operated with a standby line.

Our first stop was the treat trail with Oogie Boogie. The theming here was terrific! Each treat trail has multiple treat stops and all we visited had a character.

It is such a great idea to have the treat stops with the characters. Most guests pass by the character, some stop and there is plenty of room for guests to pass those taking photos.

We were in line for the Oogie Boogie location for about 15 minutes before the party started. It took us just a couple of minutes to enter and see Oogie Boogie. It was very different than I expected – I thought we’d be waiting for a long time but it wasn’t at all like that.

Cruella de Vil had a very long line when Oogie Boogie Bash started. The line moved, just as the Oogie Boogie line did. We waited though until a little later for that one.

There is a Mad Hatter treat trail. All of the character interactions were fantastic.

We met Mickey and Minnie on Pixar Pier. I haven’t seen them in these costumes before.

Photopass is included. We were so busy that we only ended up with photos at this location.

We headed over to the Dr. Strange area of Avengers Campus to see Agatha Harkness. First, candy along the way. And actually not just candy, but there were grapes and carrots on this trail also (and other items like Sun Chips and pretzels at various trails).

Agatha Harkness made her character debut at Oogie Boogie Bash and was really popular. That said, the long-ish line we were in still took only a few minutes to get through.

Here is our video of Agatha.

And one more photo of her.

Hades, Pain, Panic and Megara were out at various times in the Carthay Circle area.

Cruella De Vil in her live action form was popular but the line was much shorter when we arrived.

Here is our video of Cruella.

The locations are really well themed.

Sid was on Pixar Pier – another treat trail.

Here is our video of Sid.

He talked with guests that passed by.

Other treat trails include the Maleficent location.

And the Evil Queen trail. The characters interacted with guests so well.

We watched both Frightfully Fun Parade showings. It waas nice to see a parade again!

Among the characters in the Frightfully Fun Parade are the Hitchhiking Ghosts.

There is a Haunted Mansion float with the bride.

Jack and Sally are back on their float.

Here is our video that includes the full parade from two angles.

Many characters were out around the park, including the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Mickeys Treat & Treat show is really cute and features Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald.

Goofy is dressed like a mummy.

Mickey and Minnie have great costumes too.

In the Carthay Circle area, Cinderella met with Lady Tremaine and also Anastasia and Drizella were here at times.

Cinderella stands with the Oogie Boogie lighting in the background.

Megara was out at the end of the night.

Here is a look at some of the items I had collected at the end of the night. There is so much more than candy.

We had such a terrific time at Oogie Boogie Bash! There were elements of the party we didn’t see, including the extremely popular Villains Grove area. There are other other characters we saw and we also experienced lightning while at the party. I wish we had bought tickets for a second night! It would be worth heading back to experience other aspects and shorter ride times.
