White Rhino Fitted with Activity Tracker at Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Photos, Video)

Hi everyone!

Disney shared photos and video of Helen, an an endangered white rhinoceros, wearing a fitness tracker on the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park in Walt Disney World. This is part of a collaborative research project with rhinos at other zoos and wildlife centers across the United States. The team is looking at overall health including heart rate, body fat percentage and behavior & activity. They measure steps, how fast the rhino walks and more. There is a GPS also shows how the rhino is using the space. Watch the video below for more information!
